I am sorry to disagree but why should they always be playing for their country. It was not Scotland that made andy murray a world class tennis player, it was himself.

He deserves whatever success he gets and really doesn't owe Scotland anything, the majority of his training came outwith Scotland. The same could be said for Djokovic, they pay back their country by trying their best in the Davis cup or Olympics but in reality they owe very little to their country's so anything they do for their country is a bonus really.

Hoy belted it out as did the vast, vast majority of GB medallists.

Piers Morgan was giving Great Ormond St a grand for every athlete that sang the anthem. The total was well over 30 grand.

I agree, but Nadal who is Catalan never plays double game. He seems his as Spanish and I respect that although I'd be happier if he was pro Catalan, but he is the guy without double standards and that is why I respect him so much.
My fav player besides Markos Baghdatis and JM Del Potro.

If he sung GSTQ just to appease the English media and English tennis fans then that just confirms what I've been saying. He's a sellout.

If he sung it because he actually supports the British monarchy or because he believes in the anthem's words then that's even worse.

You didn't understand me. I said that because I can not understand people who glorify their countries when they win a slam. They did it for them, not for the countries.
The thing annoys me is that Đoković acts like a Super Serb. I have nothing against people who aren't patriots, but at least they do not represent themselves like while some of them act like that, but never show that with their acts.

Even if he does support the British monarchy...so what?He isnt alone...infact i remember you advocating the re-introduction of a Scottish monarchy after independence!!!How does that work in your mind?
It obviously cant be the fact he isnt against the monarchy, its just the particular monarchy he isnt against that you cant handle.....is that right?

As someone who is against the monarchy, but doesnt hate the present incumbents, i dont understand your logic.

I have explained my grievances with the 'British' monarchy on umpteen occasions.

I'm not surprised you don't follow my logic as, let's face it, we see eye to eye on practically nothing.

I wonder if Murray will now kick on from this US Open win or will he become like Del Potro [think thats the name]

Roger Federer is on the way out now, he has peaked.

Novak Djokovic is still a class player and will win more Slams i think.

Rafael Nadal still brilliant but got bad knees.

Andy Murray could this be the first of many Grand Slam wins.

David Ferrer could break into the top four.

Given that his last slam win was, like, two months ago, i think that's a wee bit premature. :icon_mrgreen:
Federer has an extremely smooth, low-impact playing style - he will last longer than most, while he still has the desire to play.

    Agreed.

To me, Nadal is a very one-dimensional player - his whole game revolves around a cranked-up, charge-around-the-court style. This is why his knees and ankles are giving out - and it's also why other tennis pros don't play that way. And as he doesn't have the skill/versatility to alter his playing style, I still say what I was saying five years ago - wouldn't surprise me if Nadal retired before Federer.

Agreed. Since the start of this season, his body language has indicated he is over the psychological hurdle. He looks at home in his skin, even at pressure-points in the match. As long as that keeps up, he will be a genuine contender on all surfaces.

Possible, he keeps himself in great shape. But then so does Federer, and they are about the same age, so I think it's more likely he will break the Top 4 at the expense of Nadal.
