Have no doubt in my mind that andy will go on to become a multiple slam winner now that he has got that first one out of the way. He'll win at Wimbledon before long, and maybe in Australia too. How far is he off becoming world no. 1?

Wimby has to be the next step, that or Roland Garos. He's won the third most important, just needs to tick off those two to cement himself as a great.

The French has been regarded as the least important major for a number of years now. Since the Aussie has become steadily more popular over the years. What about the World Tour Finals? That is certainly very close to a 5th major. Of course Wimbledon is still and will most likely always have the most presitige. Murray losing that final to Federer was estimated to have cost him £100m in future revenue.

I'll concede that the US/French is a toss up, but the Australian open is clearly the fourth in terms of prestige.

My personal preference between the two is the French, I like the allure of the clay courts. It's all subjective though.

I would say it goes in order
    1. Wimbledon
    2. U.S
    3. French
    4. Australian

I can't see Murray winning at Rolland garros, but I firmly believe he'll win the other two at least once to add to his U.S open

Gracious through gritted teeth. How gracious was he having a sore leg right at the point in the 5 hour match when Murray is serving for his first Grand Slam?

Got to be honest, I was kinda hoping he gave us a rousing rendition of GSTQ just to see your head explode :56:

They play for CFC just to reach the EPL. No love for CFC as deluded fans think

A sleazy sponger Đoković with his "In Rome do as the Romans do" life theory and Murray's "Anyone, but England"+GSTQ=*, my two big dissapointments, and when I remember I used to support them. I hope Baghdatis, Delpo and Rafa aren't like them.
It was nice to watch a great match without annoying. My family members wanted to kick me out of house, LOL.

Thanks, I am not a fan of it although I am Serbian. The crest is stupid and why the * there is a crown when Serbia is republic. I think he will not take the Saltire, he doesn't want to disturb his English fans.
Mate, you are my Scottish double, your posts about Murray and mine about Đoković's(earlier) are the same.

Murray was better, no doubt. Đoković service is really bad and Murray return is great.
I am reading this and I could read the same when Đoković won his firts slam. Glorifying of your nation ( I 'd say both Scots and Serbs have "a small nation ( I think about population) complex" and they play for their own money. This is not Davis cup or the Olympics.
The point is "anyone but England" and later GSTQ. Double faced man, just like Đoković.

Could be seen applauding Murray’s points several times throughout the match, went over to Murray’s side of the court to embrace him and congratulated Murray on his success, which he said was "thoroughly deserved".

A strange way of doing something through gritted teeth.

Brillent performance by Andy, deserved it big time, his defence is unbelivable on the court.
I wonder are the strawberry and cream brigade at wimbledon happy he won his first Slam at the US Open?? :smiley-laughing002:

How will this great victory affect the rankings. Will Murray go 2nd?

I'm not 100% i think he'll still be 3rd but if he wins a couple of more tournaments + tour finals at the end of the year he'll finish as year end number 1.

Moved up to number 3 after his semi and will stay there, still got a way to go to upset the other 2 I think, I.e. 4 or 5 tournaments.

In the aftermath of the match I genuinely thought Andy was on the hunt for a flag, for the celebrations, saying 'where is it' etc to his box. Turns out he was looking for a watch made by one of his sponsors. I'm so naive!

I can't stand the commercialisation of sports.

The tour finals could look something like this depending on Nadal's fitness

    1 Federer, Roger
    2 Djokovic, Novak
    3 Murray, Andy
    4 Nadal, Rafael
    5 Ferrer, David
    6 Berdych, Tomas
    7 Tsonga, Jo-Wilfried
    8 Del Potro, Juan Martin

    As strong a line-up as there's been

Tipsarevic isn't far behind and I've got a feeling he's gonna be there!
