Before i start let me say I absolutely adore Neil Lennon!
But what more proof do we need to see that he is not good enough to manage Celtic FC?
Third in the worst SPL in decades? Please stop defending him.
Look at what difference the RIGHT manager can do to a Club. The grand old lady of Italian football, Juventus is back on top after a disastrous 7 years. They do not have the quality squad that AC Milan or Inter have but they are undefeated and reacquiring all the attributes that made Juventus one of the greatest Clubs in Europe. Any how was this achieved? By selecting an ex player Antonio Conte to manage the team. But an ex player who has earned his stripes by building successful teams in the Serie B. Conte has a passion for Juventus like Lennon has for Celtic, no fear of contradiction there. But Conte has experience and Lennon does not. How can a Club like Celtic FC give the management reins to an unproven manager? Our last periods of success under Strachan and O'Neill were because those two had managed elsewhere and were experienced enough to come to SPL and drive Celtic to SPL success. The reality Lennon getting the job was an appeasement after Mowbray. Reality Lennon is not good enough. Bite the bullet and lets get on with it before we drop even lower.

I also believe Lennon is the man to take the blame. We have the same group of players that won most games convincingly last year. No excuse, something MUST be wrong behind the scenes.
-
And who do we replace him with? no money to spend and left with an oversized squad of nuggets left behind by the previous manager and the board telling you, you have to shift the deadwood to spend on players.
We can all believe we could attract the likes of MON and WGS or perhaps slaven billic but the fact is no one wants the job it's a hot potato.
For me I love Lenny and I do think there is a problem in the back ground he is trying to hide but I think we need to get behind the wee man and trust he can sort it out.
He has has had a teribble start to the season with Injurys which have thrown the balance and ultimately caused the lack of confidence.
I also believe there are a few player playing with injury just because Lenny has no other options.
I hope January can be a turning point and the board can get there finger out.
Get behind your team in times of darkness we will never be them Hail Hail -
bang on brother.
this team is underperforming for Neil simple as that -

it is his job to motivate the players and he does not seem to be doing that currently.

I repeat I love Neil Lennon..... but that does not cloud what is there for everyone to see... he is not good enough to manage Celtic FC. Simple as that, results are proof! I mean drawing at home with Killie, please!

Conte also had 50 million to spend in the summer and one of the best midfielders in the world in Claudio Marchisio. Not a great comparison. Lenny has made some frustrating tactical decisions this season, but to say the blame lies squarely at his door is overlooking some inept performances from some of our top players of last season. That and our terrible run of luck in the injury department.
I don't think that sacking Lenny is going to magically solve all our problems. If we do drop more points in games we should be winning then his position will most likely become untenable, but he is not the one and only reason for our poor performances so far this season. -
It is funny how some people can't seperate Neil Lennon the Celtic legend, from Neil Lennon the manager. People have to let it go, yes we all love him... but he is not a good manager for us at this moment in time. That doesn't mean we dislike him!

well said.we need to learn to take all the emotion out of the situation and just look at the stats.the current performances and results are just not good enough. -

While it's Lennon's job to motivate the players, it's the players fault when they can't string two passes together. BASIC footballing skills are lacking from several international players.
Yes so much is Lennon's fault, but people are very quick to blame managers when stuff is going wrong and often forget the players. -
I agree you have to blame the manager for the team not performing well on a consistent basis so far this season. It was revealing that in the post match interview after today's home scorless draw with Hibs Lenny wondered how many times he would have to give a stern team talk to get a good performance out of the team. That made me assume he wasn't doing it every time. The answer Lenny is simple, you have to do that every time, that's your job as manager. If they need a rocket to get them going you need to provide it every time. Lenny is the right manager he just needs to get tough and motivate all the time before every game.

Did Neil Lennon have experience when we racked up 92 points last year and were playing teams off the park, including Rangers, with good, attractive football. We were playing football the way it should be played. We were unlucky not to win the leage.
And for people saying its his fault the players aren't motivated, that is bullshit. They are pro footballers ffs, they shouldnt need to be motivated. I blame * like Kayal Hooper and Commons who have been completely disinterested this season, for the slump we are in.
Hopefully Lennon will learn from this what players he can really trust. -
We don't know what goes on in the dressing room but I would hope that with the fragile league position we are in these players are wound up to a very high tempo before they go out on the pitch. It's the SPL ffs. It's not a walk in the park. If they are not going out in that state I would be asking questions.
All football players can play football otherwise they wouldn't be there. It's getting them to perform individually and as a team that is the trick.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 30, 2011
