    Aye, I googled him. Surely if he was one of the best players ever he'd be frequently mentioned in these debates?

    Ronaldinho would be too if not for his fall from grace, hence why I didn't include him.

    I dont think so.

    Football is a changed game, players today are so much more athletic/phsical.

    Sport science is so much more advanced now. These players would good but no where near the level of Messi.

    You only need to look Diego Maradona highlights to realize how far the game has evolved since then never mind the 1950. Look at how the 100m sprint records have been smashed since the 50's. By that same token the 4 minute mile was a big deal in the 50s, now many non proffesional athletes can accomplish this feat.

    Look at Diego Maradonas famous goal v England , he practically jogged through the defense.

    On the topic of Lev Yashin, he could very well be the greatest keeper ever. However how can you possibly compare him to the likes of Messi etc in terms of the greatest ever. They all had different roles to play on the pitch. Beckenbauer and Maldini as well..relates back to the point I made earlier.

    So hard to put certain players in the same bracket/debate.
