A recording of the song was cut into the Gold Disc that was sent with the Voyager spacecraft, I believe it has already travelled farther than the combined distance traveled by every human who has ever lived, and it is destined to continue travelling away from us for all eternity unless it either bumps into something (not going to happen) or gets picked up by some alien lifeform (not going to happen for billions of years at the earliest). So yeah, the song is expected to outlast our own Sun.

I really like Hope Sandoval, I only discovered Mazzy Star about 18 months ago and instantly fell in love with her........then discovered that the songs/videos of her I'd been watching were from about 30 years previous lol, still love the music, but it was weird having a crush on her and finding out she's about 60 years old.

Eventually it will stop moving but yes it will (possibly) outlive our sun. Nice info, love it

    Voyager Golden Record[edit]
In 1977, Carl Sagan and other researchers collected sounds and images from planet Earth to send on Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. The Voyager Golden Record includes recordings of frogs, crickets, volcanoes, a human heartbeat, laughter, greetings in 55 languages, and 27 pieces of music. "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground" was included, according to Timothy Ferris, because "Johnson's song concerns a situation he faced many times: nightfall with no place to sleep. Since humans appeared on Earth, the shroud of night has yet to fall without touching a man or woman in the same plight."[20]

A night in celebration of Shane inevitably leads to the Dubs at some point.
