I cannot get into Leonard at all. To the absolute rage of my Uncle in Canada who (didn’t get me into into Bob) but cemented my love when I was younger. WHen my Bob experience was a ‘best of’ he opened my eyes. He keeps trying with Cohen but I just can’t.

I’ll keep trying though because too many good folk like my uncle and your good self keep telling me he’s a genius.

Convince me Prof. Give me a tune.

Sorry troops. Cohen is not for me.

He’s like Willie Nelson on Mogadon.

Decent lyrics and that but the repetitive nature of the guitar and the funeral like vocals is painful.

Bob isn’t exactly summertime music but he has an edge.

I’m not seeing it with Cohen.

I must tell my uncle there’s another two folk ready to take up pitchforks against my heresy :giggle1:

Of course is it comrade. Music is subjective I’m just having a wee bit of fun.

Mind someone asking me ‘what kind of genre do you like?’

    I said. Good.

That’s my genres. Good and bad. Simple as.

    Listen to this.

I have no idea if it’s literal, metaphorical, drug induced paranoia or just Bob having a giggle.

You need to be existing on a different frequency to the rest of the world to just come up with this.

8 minutes, one song, one one album of about 40 studio albums. Bootlegs rarities and the rest.

Words just tumbled from the mans head.

30 year ago i saw Stevie Wonder live in Glasgow, the highlight of the night was a Dylan tune.

    That was quite good.

I won’t lie though, I don’t think anyone does Bob as well as Bob. Even Hendrix can’t touch Bobs original All Along the Watchtower.

I don’t think anyone covers a song better then the original artist.

There is a passion and feeling in the songwriters voice. They wrote it for a reason and it just never comes across on a cover.

For the very vast majority of songs i agree mate, maybe a few exceptions to the rule, like Nothing Compares to You, Sinead makes it hers.

So did i mate, also thought BOTW was Art Garfunkel's song, written of course by Paul Simon, but it caused a rift between the two over the years, Simon thought Art was gettin all the credit for the song.

Sometimes a singer just fits a song, makes it magic.
