That's fair Diegan, I'd made some errors and you've put me right. I've been keeping a keen eye on American politics recently, because I feel they have a huge impact on the rest of the world. I'm learning each day. I may have made some inaccuracies, but I'm glad you can put me straight and allow me to further learn about the different scenarios your country is facing.

From what i've seen diegan you have similar opinions on me as far as people having political opinions are concerned. You don't like people voicing political opinions without knowing a good background of reasons for making that decision. Unfortunately, there are so many americans, whoever they will vote for (*cough* mostly obama*cough*), that will vote for that canditdate for all the wrong reasons.

Unfortunately most McCain supporters are actually worse than Obama supporters. It's just that I'm not around them to give them the same amount of abuse. I think the political system in America is simply broken, and I genuinely feel sorry for the world that we are the most powerful nation.

patto - be specific or don't say anything. What about McCain worries you so much.

I haven't been following it a great deal mate. His supporters are voting him because Obama is black, i was watching him at a PA debate thing where hes spouting to keep industry's open and the naive supporters clap and cheer and im sat there thinking he doesn't give 2 * he just wants your vote. And i presume he wants to stay in Iraq and hes already served one foney war and people think that gives him some political credibility. please correct me if im wrong.

although i don't live in america so i can't peak for much of society but what i do know is there is going to be so many votes for all the wrong reasons and it's scary. I don't even live in America and i know more about the election than a strong majority and that's what's scary.

beyond the fact that he has voted for bush's economic legislation, he has said that we may be in iraq for another hundred years, has repeatedly said "there will be more wars" and openly wants to attack iran. His vp candidate is cingularly the most ill-equipt political figure in recent history, she makes dan quayle look like a rhodes scholar. We need a change, a new direction...no one even mccainers will deny this... mccain is more of the same, his willingness to engage in further wars while staying in iraq indefinatly is scary, what has happened to the stock market is scary, the lack of jobs in america is scary, our dependance on foreign oil is scary, but scariest of all is the idea that only the health of a 73 year old man stands between sarah palin and the most powerful seat in the world...that is * scary, she is an insult to educated americans, i come from a family of plumbers, none make 250k a year and I don't want any of them running the country. Mccain is a hate monger, he has been throwing * at the wall for weeks, desperate for something to stick.

tomorrow we find out more than just the next president, but the direction of a country

i really hope I'm not forced to move to canada, and i do love america

    I'm just scared of palin - mccain:shamrock:

do you even understand the threat Iraq hold against America or what the Iranian president has said about America with nuclear weapons at his disposal. Obama has been proven in the past to not know enough about Iran when called on it in past. Also John McCain Is 71, he has been campaigning for how long now with constant travelling and pressure and he has not shown signs of aging in that time unlike Obama, he has spent half of his life in the military, so he knows the importance of being fit and healthy

10 REASONS TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN

10.) John McCain is much, much funnier than Barack Obama. But then, almost everyone is.
9.) John McCain is a passionate patriot who has always been, and will always be, guided by what he thinks is best for America. He can trace his ancestry back to an officer on Gen. George Washington's staff and his family has served the nation nobly in war and peace ever since. McCain believes in winning wars.
8.) McCain's intimate familiarity with military matters also makes him less biddable by the armed services. He was able, when most others (most notably his opponent) were not, to see that a change of strategy in Iraq — not a retreat — was needed. He brings an informed skepticism to military procurement requests as well.
7.) As he told Rick Warren, McCain believes that there is evil in the world and that it must be confronted. While Mrs. Obama and many others seem to think that our enemies will purr like kittens once we inaugurate a black man with an Islamic middle name, that is dangerous fantasy. When asked for an example of evil, McCain mentioned al-Qaida putting explosive vests on two mentally impaired girls and blowing them up by remote control in an Iraqi marketplace. Obama, whose turn of mind is different, cautioned that the problem is sometimes us: "… a lot of evil has been perpetrated based on the claim that we were trying to confront evil."
6.) McCain may not be a Ph.D. economist, but he understands that raising taxes and adopting protectionist trade policies will deepen and prolong this recession. Nor would he permit Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to push through the "card check" law — a union-backed measure that would reverse 73 years of labor law in this country by scuttling the secret ballot in union elections. Even George McGovern has denounced this job-killing, freedom-smothering law that Obama supports. Greater unionization will translate into lost productivity, inflationary pressure, and fewer jobs.
5.) John McCain will try to protect the unborn. Barack Obama is the most radical pro-abortion candidate ever to win a presidential nomination. Obama has promised to back the Freedom of Choice Act as his first presidential act, which would invalidate all restrictions on abortion at any stage of gestation — and even in cases where babies are born alive after an attempted abortion.
4.) McCain will employ diplomacy, not worship it. Obama is deluded about the power of "talks." In 2007, he proposed, regarding Iran's nuclear program: "if we are meeting with them, talking to them, and offering them both carrots and sticks, they are more likely to change their behavior."
3.) John McCain has said that his models for good judicial picks are John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Senator Obama will pick Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich (just kidding, but his choices won't be far off).
2.) McCain's health care proposal will improve the world's best health care delivery system. He proposes to reform the most distorting aspect of our current system (the tax break for employers) and give the tax break to individuals instead. It is McCain's proposal, not Obama's, that will give individuals the choice to stay with the plan they have or take the tax credit and shop around (in a market enlarged by permitting interstate insurance). Obama's plan, by contrast, is a key first step to achieving his oft-repeated preference for a single-payer system like Canada's. By forcing employers to provide certain (as yet unspecified) benefits or pay a tax ("play or pay"), Obama's plan will encourage employers to dump more and more people into a government-run health insurance system like Medicare. Word to the wise: In Canada, they are seeking to reduce wait times for care. One province reported waits of 26 weeks for hip replacements, and others are trying to ensure (without success) that cancer patients are treated within 4 weeks of diagnosis.
1.) The financial crisis and looming recession, combined with President Bush's low approval ratings, have set the stage for this election to be a pivot point in American history. If Barack Obama is elected president and Democrats control large majorities in the House and Senate, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate will move the country decisively in the direction of dying Europe — low productivity, high joblessness, low birth rates, high taxes, and limp foreign policies. The triumvirate will do this at a time when a vibrant America is more necessary than ever — with Iran seeking nuclear weapons, Pakistan teetering, al-Qaida regrouping, China and Russia telegraphing hostility, and Iraq just barely emerging into the sunshine. This election has become about far more than John McCain versus Barack Obama; it has become about whether the United States will remain the champion of freedom — economic and political — or whether we will join the queue of formerly great nations now struggling to pay for all the social welfare "benefits" their aging and lazy populations demand.

You should bring out quotes, or facts. That might be kind of hard since you are, you know, wrong. McCain never said he wants to fight in Iraq for 100 years... he said he would not be opposed to having peacekeeping forces there after hostilities end. The exact same situation we have in Germany, South Korea, and Japan. Have we been at war with those countries for the entirety of our stay? I don't think so.

I find it ironic that you are so against McCain for fear of war, but that Obama, not McCain, is the one willing to step up aggression in Pakistan unless the Pakistanis start enforcing law on the border regions. Also, your comment about Iran is just plain wrong... McCain has never ever, said that. Please show me where you are getting these "facts.' The only policy he has on Iran is that he is opposed to discussions with Ahmadinejad and wants to step up sanctions. Obama has said that he favors discussions before he feels Israel starts getting restless. I don't know which one is right or wrong but I do know that there is no guarentee to go to war in any of their rhetoric.

And your attempt to put the economic crisis on the Republicans wrong. It is, as Alan Greenspan famously called it, a flaw in the way the world works. Nobody saw it coming, and it is much more complex than "* Its the repubs faultsss." Both sides have tried to blame the other and I find it embarassing and saddening that anyone believes either of them. You can't expect to have something like the crisis blamed on one person, no matter how much you want to hate someone. FFS even Jim Kramer said it was "impossible" to blame the Bush administration, in his words, "no matter how much I want to." I'll take the word of a guy who paid his way through college with the stock market, and who is famous for going on a tirade half a year before this stuff started happening fortelling the future.

I will agree with you that Palin scares the * out of me and that McCain has resorted to despicable tactics, but try to look at how your side is doing things as well.

This is ridiculous... I've already stated that Obama is getting a net gain in votes because of his race. 8% are voting for him based on race, and 6% are against him based on race. Although that's embarassing either way, 6% is hardly most of his supporters. And on the "foney war" part, I'm never going to fault a man for getting sent to a war. The * he went through during that time as a POW is respectable, and you're barking up the wrong tree if that's the direction you're going. It's akin to attacking Obama because of his upbringing, you just don't do it. Republicans commend Obama's personal story and Democrats commend McCain's bravery through torture. You've just touched one of the big no-nos that most liberals won't touch out of respect.

Iraq was no threat at all to America. Also, Obama is much more fit than McCain... he was a very good basketball player growing up and towers over McCain. I would seriously advise you not to go that way in an argument, it doesn't hold up at all. Obama was naive with Iran, but he has changed his view publicly which I commend... he has also shown a willingness to listen to the Generals on what would be best in the Middle East as far as getting out safely and leaving behind as little wreckage as possible, whereas McCain might try to "pull rank" and do what he wants even though he's old and senile.

jim cramer, the crazy guy, ok

threat from iraq, come on still drinking the rove juice? think we are gonna find wmd?

my cousin died in iraq, for what? what do you want to tell his children? our basis for going into iraq was a lie, actually an amazing tangle of lies

even if you dont want to give any blame to the administartion that has resided over the country the past eight year fors the economic collapse, how about running up the debt 6 trillion dollars or giving tax breaks to companies that produce of shore

just because mccain is old doesn't mean he has the experiance we need...just another stale old white guy, looking crazier by the day

Luckily this will all be mute tomarrow, maybe even before dinner is over on the east coast.

cheers and Jan. 20th will be a glorious day from the shores of california to the hills of Maine

I hope that Iraq comment wasn't aimed at me, since I clearly stated that Iraq wasn't a threat... If it wasn't you should think about making clear who you are arguing at, it makes it much easier to read. As far as your personal anecdote, that really doesn't have a place in this debate. And your assumption that I haven't experienced a situation similar to that is annoying. But because I don't want to take this too far off course, I'll just leave my anecdote(s) at the door.

Jim Kramer is considered one of the smartest economists in the nation. Just because he yells and screams doesn't take that away. The fact remains that he predicted the credit crisis, so that gives him enormous credibility.

Yes, I do blame the administration for your next point, but you didn't say that in your last post... your last post was just more regurgitated * from the tv.

January 20th is rarely glorious in California... it's the rainy season. Not nice.

Yea... that list is so full of stupid that it's going to take me a while to get in the right frame of mind to counter it. :56:
