I think it would be a disaster for the US and because of the USA's power a disaster for the world if McCain won. He used to be a pretty reasonable sounding man for a politican. But since he decided he wanted to get elected this time he has switched his so called opinions and pandered to the extremist and intolerant wing of the right. He has indulged fully in their politics of fear, intolerance, hate and division. The last 8 years have been an absolute nightmare for the USA in every way and another 4 years would be a disaster.

You're right, I looked it up later and just forgot to edit the post. I'm curious as to how you knew this? It's quite an odd little fact that I'm sure only .02% of the American populace knows about.

Read an article on todays Yahoo home page.
(Sorry don't know how to put it here )

Simon Cowell wants to make british elections like America's, saying ours are dour and theirs are entertainment.

I saw American elections for the first time in the 50s on TV. and remember adults commenting on all the raxamataz that went with it. Some saying their idiots and others saying how much they enjoyed it for its entertaining value.
I think another reason why it is covered so much by the british media is that after the Americans came to our aid in the war we were then in their pocket. And still are today.

There are a lot of similarities between this election and the 1960 one.
America was falling behind Russia in its military and economy then, and it needed change and someone with the ability to carry it out. Along came a young fresh Kennedy who made people feel confident about the future.
Today America again is struggling with its economy which is now under threat from China's economy and its own massive military costs which affects the whole world.
And what have we got a young fresh politicion who says the same as Kennedy that he will bring change.
I think this is meant to be and hope Obama wins. He is the only one of the two who inspires confidence.

I don't really care who wins. Why should anyone outside the US of A give a fiddlers fart about an election in the good ole US of A?

Well, it's just that i'm interested in politics and i've been reading about US election in the last months. I used an electoral college online calculator the other day and read again about the Maine system, just remembered that. In fact i didn't know Nebraska goes the same way :icon_mrgreen:

Well it doesn't affect me that much. I couldn't care who wins. I think most American politics is stage managed.
Whoever wins America will still be the world's policeman and will impose it's will on any nation it sees fit.

It may be stage managed but if you have an opinion on; abortion, war, the economic crisis, nuclear power, global warming, oil price, import/export trade etc etc etc then it affects you.

Like Korea, Vietnam and presently fighting a loosing battle in Afganastan.

Doesn't affect me as an individual in any way. I have lived my life.
But what happens in America does affect the lives of a great number of the people on this planet.
