He's a massive talent with no doubt a few good years left in him, but there are more important things than football in the world, and I hope he finds peace and happiness with his family. :50:

A daughter already and twins on the way?

    Peace is ambitious. :56:

Great player to watch, seems like a decent family man too. Good luck to him, hope he comes back to visit one day soon.

What a guy, man, brought a tear to my eye that. He's absolutely right that nothing is more important than family and I'm delighted for him that he'll be able to focus on that now.

    Legend.

As a parent who went through the fertility roller coaster myself, I can empathise with this. That aside Rogic is/was a magician of a footballer. Absolute rolls royce of a player. In my top 3 favourite players in my lifetime (Larsson, Rogic, McStay)

Wish him all the best in retirement.

All the best to the big man and his family.

I was sad to see how his career went after us, but this maybe goes to explain it a little.
But this, this actually makes me happy to see him retire and focus on that most important aspect of life, family.

Hopefully not the last time we hear or see of him, although a very private individual and he's made his money, perhaps it will be.

Would love to see/hear in a few years he is in coaching to some degree. Great football mind.

Yeah it makes sense now, think he may have got £60k a week?? for his move down south, so one year of that for his future retirement makes sense now

Not much to add beyond what everyone has previously. So many brilliant memories of him, primarily here with Celtic but also with the Socceroos - had some truly magic moments in ther green and gold as much as he did in the Hoops.

Am sure he considers himself blessed and it is so clear through that message how much Celtic means to him and from the poutpouring of messages here and elsewhere on soclal media how much he means to so many that have been able to witness and treasure so many sublime and superb memories, not just the goals and assists but so many little pieces of play that practically noone else could do.

All the best for the future, in fatherhood and all the challenges that brings and whatever else lies in store in the years to come. The game is a poorer place without you but your family is all the better because of you.

    Thank you again, Tom.

Former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has today announced his retirement from professional football.

In a Celtic career that spanned nine years, the Australian internationalist spent the majority of his career in Glasgow, winning 16 trophies and providing some huge moments that will forever live in the legacy.

His journey started in his homeland, with his big break arriving in 2012 when he signed for the A-league side Central Coast Mariners.

The following year in January 2013 he made the switch to Celtic as a 20-year-old and made his debut the following month, setting up the first goal in a 3-1 win away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

From that day in Inverness to his final appearance on Trophy Day at Celtic Park in May 2022, Rogic amassed those 16 trophies along with 273 appearances and 46 goals, and he left Paradise in 2022 as that season’s PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year and with another Scottish Premiership trophy in his hand - the sixth of an impressive career in the green and white Hoops

His career ended with one year at the English Championship side West Bromwich Albion, and his retirement also brings his international career to a close, where he won 53 caps for Australia and played in the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

His accolades at Celtic only scratch the surface of his time in the Hoops.

Signing for Celtic in January 2013, Tom Rogic ended that season with a spot on the bench for the Scottish Cup final victory over Hibernian and, with it, the first of 16 medals was placed in the cabinet.

His Celtic journey didn’t fully get underway until the 2015/16 campaign. Having returned from a loan spell with A-League side Melbourne Victory, Rogic took his chance under Ronny Deila, scoring a stunning goal in his first start of the season against Partick Thistle.

His performances kicked on from there, and the crowning moment in both his and the club's season came with his 90th-minute thunderbolt away to Kilmarnock in March 2016 which earned a 1-0 win and all but secured the league title.

When Brendan Rodgers took charge that summer, Rogic’s game continued to reach new heights as he became a mainstay in the starting XI, scoring in the League Cup final of 2016 and the dramatic winner in the 4-3 victory away to Motherwell.

Then came the moment that he is most fondly remembered for, as in stoppage time of the 2017 Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, Rogic weaved his way into the penalty box and scored THAT goal to seal the Invincible Treble.

He was part of an era that would would go on to win a total of four Trebles and Rogic himself produced even more huge moments including important European strikes and six goals in the Glasgow derby.

Then in his final season at Celtic, Rogic had another renaissance under the management of his fellow countryman, Ange Postecoglou, as he delivered an outstanding individual campaign to help the Hoops win a domestic double, he won the Scottish Premiership Goal of the Season and he was crowned PFA Men’s Player of the Year.

Everyone at Celtic Football Club would like to thank Tom Rogic for his incredible service over nine fantastic years and we wish both him and his family all the best for the future.

What a player and what a man. Feel a bit sad that I'll never see him use that left peg again but also very happy for him and his family. You could see how much he doted on his wee girl that last match, clearly a man who will always put his family before everything which is as it should be.

His statement certainly seems to explain his taking an extended break after leaving us and pulling out of the Socceroos last summer. Something Tam would never have done without good reason as Graham Arnold should * well have known. The way he treated Tam last year was appalling (and I note he didn't get a thank you)

Lennon did originally sign him when he spotted Rogic at that Nike Academy thing, so maybe it was a 'thanks for bringing me to Celtic' nod? But yes, totally agree. NL really never knew how to best utilize him in either of his time in charge and even tried to sell him for peanuts during covid. So it is an odd one.

Ronny sent him out on loan so maybe felt that, but Rogic made much more of an impact in that second RD season alone than he did in any time in Lennon's charge.
