Why not just padlock your tent?

Went to T 9 years in a row and didnt have anything stolen or have any run ins or see anything i dont see in the town at the weekend. Put 100000 people in one place and inevitably some of them are going to be arseholes but generally ive always found the crowds to be sound.

Padlocking your tent's just advertising youve got something of value to be honest. Anything of value id have would be on me at all times, id especially never leave money in my tent.

It takes all of 2 seconds to make an alternative opening if they want in.

    I always padlock mine.

There was a bit in the news yesterday about all the lost gear recovered this year.

They have loads of phones etc, but they also have quite a few ipads.

Who the * takes ipads to a festival?

Having spoken to a few people who go regularly, they all say it's getting worse by the year. More and more neds with more incidents.

Wasn't this year a record amount of arrests?

Tickets didn't sell out this year for the first time I remember and next year's are already discounted and with payment plans too.

Sounds to me that interest is fading with the neds driving out the music goers.

Aye I was walking around with full pockets as I wasn't leaving anything of value inside. I was in the security campsite so I didn't have the problem of the * general public floating about.

I used to read the T forum and youd see folk saying stuff like they came back to their tent and 400 pounds, a camera, phone/laptop were missing. Not saying its right that folk steal these things but * sake, use yer brain.

When i went to T on sunday i spent the entire time in the slam tent.

The lineup in there this year was exactly my type of dance music. In terms of bands my favourites are Mogwai, pearl jam, arab strap, soundgarden, explosions in the sky, pj harvey, bob dylan, hendrix, pixies, sonic youth etc etc. Could go on forever.

Very few newish bands attract me. Best coast and lotus plaza are the only ones i can think of even remotely new.

Also listen to an endless amount of electronic stuff along the lines of boards of canada, portishead, aphex twin, massive attack, the field, ulrich schnauss, baths, syntaks etc etc. Again, far too many to name.

Aside from the slam tent the only bands that interested me at all were yeah yeah yeahs, frightened rabbit and my * valentine.

Our party tent was locked but they had basically just kicked it down, they had obviously seen what we had put in it before we went out.

We met 2 wee irish guys, just a few tents away, who came back to their tent to find a massive 'slash' down the side and loads of personal stuff gone. I spoke to a few others who had the same thing done, they were obviously just cutting through the tents and sticking their hands in.

There has always been generally a 'code' at festivals and stuff like this never happened, but there were neds everywhere. We just tried to stick to our own wee crowd and had to bite our tongue a few times to avoid bother.

Pretty nasty atmosphere throughout the place I felt.

My thoughts exactly. Leave money in an empty tent and you're pretty much asking for it to be stole.

Who brings a * laptop to a festival?

And putting a padlock on your tent is like putting up a massive sign saying "Rob us"

For me T has been going down this road more and more the past 5/6 years. They have started appeasing to that sort of crowd, the idiot neds who want to follow your Oasis, or other similar bands that are fronted as a "I'ma hard nut *" kind of guy.
Don't get me wrong, not dissing the music of these bands at all, but the crowd they can attract is disgusting at times (not all). And slowly but surely the bands at T have been heading more and more to attracting these sort of crowds.

Used to be a very good selection of bands, across many genre's and the diversity of the crowd meant that these incidents were few and far between.

If I ever get the urge to go to another festival, I'll be going abroad.

Got into a spat with a guy at Beady eye at least twice my age who i accidentaly bumped into, said sorry and he tried to fly for me. Guy was an absoloute walloper trying to show off to his burd was raging. Got my beers and phone robbed from my tent aswell.

Apart from this though i thought the general atmosphere was great. Was talking away to so many random people having a laugh and singing and dancing away, personally cant wait to go back next year!

I thought there were less NED's this year than the previous 6 or 7 I've been :56:

Place was full of generic West End 'planking, top banter' types.

It's all just a big show off fest, look at me I have an Ipad. Some people are stupid enough to flash their valuables about and then moan when they get stolen.

If you're going to take anything to a place like this then take an old crappy phone that you don't mind losing.
