I think it was only £2 million Bordeaux were wanting for him as well and we were actually pretty close to getting him, but we mucked about for too long and Lazio signed him.

Someone else mentioned a few weeks back about his performances with Lazio and how he looked impressive, it's a shame we didn't get him.

What do you mean they can't keep it? :97:

What if we don't Qualify for the GS? We need to qualify for the CL.

He was impressive for the couple of minutes he played.

If we get Russell, Tonev, Amido Balde, a center back and maybe another signing in before the Champions League Qualifiers, I'll be buzzing.

Exactly. People that are saying lennon will leave if we don't get a decent budget. Lawells alreadys said he's willing to pay 4 mill on a player if the club feels we can make profit from the player in the future. Lennons a die hard celtic fan and wouldn't sell outt. He knows he can get the 10 in a row and become a alex ferguson type legend at the club. He understands the policy we have as a club, invest in our youth system, find hidden gems with our top class scout, make them stars, win medals and make the club progress. This is just the start of the system starting to work. Just think about a couple of years.

Lennon would never ditch us this season .. end of

Personally I think if we lose wanyama, ahh * it, 10 mill. We already have a strong midfeild but would have to get a big tough bastart like big vic or we won't be able to to hold teams back in europe. I hope he stays but if he goes I will always follow his career as I think he's a great player and will do great things.

Hope we keep forster most of all. Can't believe I haven't heard anyone mention his name in this thread. He's choking to go to rio and is willing to do what ever possible. He was also a very key/consistant player in thhe SPl & the CL.

Who could/should we replace him with?

Wanyama has been a revelation for us, and I think he is destined for greater things in football - i.e. playing at the very top level.

If/when he goes he will be sadly missed, but we will receive a substantial amount for him imo. When that happens (may just be sooner, rather than later) I'd severely want Kayal to be given first opportunity to fill the role of Wanyama as midfield enforcer.

Forster - although he is relatively quiet as a player (in terms of media exposure etc), I personally think he thinks that he has to move back to England. If he goes, then I think we should looking at transfer fees of £6m onwards.

If he goes? I'm not sure who we should get to replace him in all honesty - possibly a keeper with CL experience? Someone in the twilight of their footballing years maybe? I dunno.

Looks as though Hooper is 90% offski though.........

If we can keep wanyama, replace hooper and sign a defender ill be very happy. If we lose those 2 and dont reinvest properly then I think we'll be in for bit of a shock to be honest.

Same here. When Kayal had an undisturbed run in the first team in his first year here, he was fantastic. Then Wanyama arrived and it was Kayal who suffered the most through lost game time. I think if we were to give Kayal regular football he would play to the best of his abilities again.

Kayal's run was cruelly interrupted by injury.

I think that the management team were going to ease Wanyama in to the team whilst trying to decide if he would be better off in defence or midfield (I'm thinking they were under the impression that he would be better off in defence, as Mjallby and Majstorovic were working closely with Wanyama during his early days here), but the loss of Kayal forced their hand to playing Wanyama in his place - and the rest was history.

Kayal in his first season here, was probably just behind Gary Hooper as the most influential player in the team, and was LOVED by the supporters.

If he could get back to that level, even surpass it whilst playing regularly, he would be an adequate replacement for Wanyama - without us having to buy anyone else.

As in Eric Abidal, who will probably be on half of our squad's combined wages. I would love to see him here, but in reality, it's never going to happen unfortunately.

Doubt it, he 33 and just recovered from a liver transplant.

He will just want to play football - we can offer him CL.

He won't be on anywhere near our price bracket in regards to wages. That much is almost certain in my opinion. I think there would be plenty teams that could guarantee him Champions League Football that would take him as well.
