I'd like to see him tried in the deeper role too.

Bitton and Brown are really affecting our attacking play imo.

Aye there is a good footballer there so it would be interesting to see him played in a deeper role as part of 4 3 3 like you suggest. I don't know if I'd drop both Brown and Bitton though wow that's quite brave. Mind you we should play to form so there should be no guarantees. McGregor was quite poor today too which was a surprise as he was becoming quite reliable. I imagine Johansen will be in for him next game.

Yes Armstrong has a good footballing brain. The guy needs to be situated in his preferred position. He's not an all rounder.

Contributed absolutely zero since he has been here so does not deserve a game in front of McGregor, Johansen or Rogic. Ok McGregor was not great yesterday but you can't drop a guy after one poor performance. Also I would rather we gave Allan and Christie some game time to see what they can contribute rather than give this empty jersey more game time.

Looks to me like Ronny is trying to ease him back into the team. Maybe trying to build some confidence - as he had looked like he was a bit lost and seemed to be deteriorating during games and fans were getting on his back a bit.
Perhaps a good bit of man-management to give him 5 minutes sub appearances for a while?!

I like him but out wide hes hopeless. Hes a central midfield or attacking central midfielder all day long- we have to many players in that position though some are going to have to be punted.

too think how long we persisted with this guy playing out of position and now he cant even get a sniff, shame as we have never really given him a chance in his best position, guys celtic career has never got going, what next for him, could he play a part under a new manager ??

Think he could still do a job under a new manager, would like to see him in centre-mid also, a lot of people like McGregor in there but Armstrong could probably do just as well although never played there.

Think Ronny's * him as I mind he said that he played like Thomas Muller and so in Ronny's mind hes like an attacking midfielder/wide player when I think most people would say hes a centre-mid.

What's going on with him then? Is he done here, or injured, or what?

    I'd punt him..

He'll be beside himself when Gms is thrown out the door this summer, and will be going with him..

Still think he can be a good player for Celtic. Strong runner with decent technical ability.

One of many who would be more comfortable in a 4-3-3.

he was pretty decent when he first came in to the team him and gms

a new manager and coaching staff with people skills and knowledge of the game and i think the guy will come good

dont think we need to gut the team/squad as them players out there if lenny or strachan had been in charge would have wiped the floor with the undead

Has he actually had a run of games in his natural position, never a left winger in his life, what the * is it with Celtic trying to convert every * into a left winger, stokes, samaras, bla bla bla

Would like to see Johansen moved on and Armstrong given a sustained run in the side in central midfield next season. He's spent his entire Celtic career out of position on the left wing and I still think there's a player in there somewhere if he's moved inside.

Played well over 100 games for a good Dundee Utd side from CM and was signed on that basis, I can remember him being touted by some as Brown's long-term replacement at the time and he's not had a chance to disprove that. Out of the three we signed from Utd he was the one I was most excited about and I think deserves another season, hopefully the other two are punted.

I'm sick of seeing Brown and Johansen misplacing 10 yard passes under no pressure, and whilst Armstrong might not match their running power and physicality he brings a technical ability they both lack that would become more obvious with the greater time he'd have on the ball from a deeper position. There's more than enough room for that in our midfield 3 imo, surely yesterday's sickening shambles taught us that.

He's just turned 24 last month and is experienced for his age with a season and a half to learn what playing for Celtic is all about under his belt, and so for me he deserves a go in the middle ahead of McGregor, Allan, Christie, Henderson, Ajer etcc.

He's looked bang average in recent months but no worse than so called experienced international players playing in their preferred positions. Proved he had ability in the second half of last season including in Europe against Inter and for me has been a victim of the general malaise surrounding the club all year. Deserves another chance imo, one of the few that do.

Good points agree, also think he could come good if played in the middle of the park, either behind a striker or the deeper roles. Quite mobile, good technically on the ball with a nice pass on him, wide left though just doesnt suit him, I would even rather see him on the right than on the left.

He hasn't got the tenacity and ball's to play for us ib the middle. That's my impression of him. A bottle job..

I don't know if he will get much of a chance under the new manager. A big part of the problem with us just now is we have far too many players that are 'almost' good enough and Armstrong is one of them. We need to be a bit more ruthless.

A new manager is going to have to bring in a better quality center midfielder than what we have at the club. There will simply be no room for Armstrong because he isn't good enough.
