Our stand out player at CL level? It'd still be Van Dijk, Bitton and Gordon.

    He's decent though.

It's a prediction. I bet many wouldn't have believed it would be Forrest v Malmo as well?

Van Dijk has never been a stand-out in Europe as well. Gordon yes, but not the other two unless you're talking about the minnows from the last round.

Bitton was by far our stand out against Inter Milan. Unless you think they're minnows?

Van Dijk was also our stand out Lenny's last Champions League campaign. It's not often remembered because we were shocking as a team.

Are you saying Man of the Match tonight or he'll be a stand out player in Champions League proper?

He's a good player still getting better.

However, if you believe he'd be more important in Europe than; Gordon, Lustig, VVD, Brown, Bitton, Johansen or even Griffiths in the current side then you are wired incorrectly.

Ambrose and Wilson were immense v Barcelona. That was Lennon's best combo at the back. VVD's had several nightmare matches.

I can't really remember Bitton v Inter tbh but I'll take your word for it.

I'm saying Armstrong COULD be our best player if we make the group stages.

You've mentioned some of my fav players at the club there. Armstrong is gonna be right up there with them given the chance hopefully. It's a prediction. The boy's off to a flying start this season.

Bitton vs Inter was one of the best individual performances in Europe by one of our players in quite a few years.

Wrong season you're thinking about, we hadn't bought Van Dijk yet. What's been his several nightmares? Harsh red against Inter away and Karagandy when we started him half fit with Mouyokolo are the only ones that spring to mind.

A you're definitely remembering wrong. Virgil played well even though we as a team didn't. He was a stand-out even in defeat.

And was left to basically hold the fort on his own. We collapsed defensively without Wanyama their to protect us. Virgil done very well on his own though.

Yeah, Virgil and Forster both played well even though we conceded a lot goals. On paper that doesn't make much sense, but watching the matches that was how it came across.

Aye and our midfield were actually really good on the ball, we just had * all to finish it up front.

Biggest respect I've saw in regards to big Forster is when Barca pumped us 6-1 they decided to just pass it around him instead of trying to beat him with shots, since that had failed for them a * load of times.

Bit of a strange season, shows you the small margins you get in the Champions League though, everyone needs to be 100% all the time.

I thought he was poor in the 3-0 home defeat to Milan. Seem to remember him getting caught out with a long ball over the top for Balotelli's goal as well that night.

Was that him? I thought it was Ambrose? :56:

    * knows, I can just remember at the time I thought he was holding what little defence we had together, reading through the Virgil thread at the time everybody seemed to think the same.

Pretty sure it was Van Dijk mate. Understandable why you would think Ambrose though, he had previous for something similar :smiley-laughing002:
