Still think it'll be Armstrong, rather than GMS, that will make the bigger impact here long term.

Well, I think it had a pretty large part in it. As soon as he came back we started performing again. Fairly telling.

Pretty sure he played in some of the early season matches where we were awful? We were just having a tough start with the new system etc.

Was injured in a pre season friendly vs. Rapid Vienna for 3 months in July.

Has he been called up yet? Maybe Strachan could stop picking English players and give our boys a shot at playing for their country.

    Madness.

It is depressing that players who can't get selected for England turn to one of the other nations they have a tangential connection to.

It would be madness to turn down players based on some romantic notion that everyone playing for Scotland should be born in Scotland.

If the rule is good enough for Spain to use then it is good enough for Scotland.

Well, it's more if they're not good enough for England, why are they good enough for Scotland? Are our standards so much lower?

It's the national team. To be clear, I've no problem with players born elsewhere playing for Scotland (Maloney, for example) but Matt Ritchie had never set foot in Scotland before his call-up. That's ludicrous.

Why bother with international football if that's the case?

I don't like the rule either but it's there and if we didn't use it it would be utterly stupid of us.

Ritchie is no better than Armstrong and Mackay-Steven and he'd never have entertained the notion of representing Scotland if he were good enough to play for England. Same with others.

I've just watched his most recent press conference and he has to be the most well spoken player we have had in years.

He doesn't sound like a zombie like most of these footballers that are in the game now, who all give the same answers for each question.

He's really got his head screwed on and I think he is going to have a massive season with us.

Yeah, he's an intelligent lad. Decided to start a degree whilst at Utd 'cause he was bored and had too much free time. Fair play.

Expecting a good season outta him too :50:

I think he will be a steady player for us for years to come, similar to how Joe Ledley was. Perhaps not a standout but a player you need in the squad.

I still don't think he is entirely comfortable in that left hand side role.

Ayes hes posh as * :smiley-laughing002: probably by far the poshest scottish player we've ever had or even any player.

I have Celtic TV and there was an interview with him yesterday with that English woman and I dont know if its because she was English but he seemed to put on an ever posher voice. Talking about what he was doing in the break.

"Me and the boy went to New York, then a friend and I went to Miami and then another friend and I went to Stockholm" who the * holidays in Stockholm :52:

The likes of Forrest, Brown, Mulgrew and Griffiths must rip the pish out his accent.
