DeBruyne, Fabregas, Ozil, Kante, Matic, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Erikson, Alli, Sigurdson, Ramsay.

You’ve ran out of fingers off the top of my head in 10 seconds.

Game of opinions. DeBruyne, Gundogan, Erikson, Ali, you can keep the rest. Silva the pick of City's midfield for me. Fabregas in his prime, yes. Ozil is talented but * heartless. We'd be here all night.

My point is, there's a * of a lot of players on a similar level to Armstrong making a very good living in the EPL. The boy will do fine

I seriously disagree but time will tell. All I know is, I’m delighted he won’t be starting for Celtic in Europe again...

And that’s not being ungrateful to his contribution to us because for a couple years his goals have been vital domestically.

In theory you'd imagine he would..

    Decent pace and energetic..

Thing is though, Europe has shown his deficiencies up massively....to the point he's been petrified and everything has bounced off him, in amongst his hiding..

I have absolutely no doubt he'll log his shorts at the Etihad, Anfield, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Emirates, White Hart Lane..

He won't be the first to do that, but I think he'll struggle against the rest as well and be found out. His first touch is horrendous when up against better quality and he goes missing....we've all seen that..

Yea fair. The majority of midfielders in the bottom half of the PL table struggle when they go to those places too. I don't expect him to be any different. CL group stages is def a level up from the bottom half of the EPL.

Even from watching the Republic, Arter, Meyler, Hendrick, McLean are all established EPL players yet they're by no means exceptional. Seen them put in some very very average performances at international level against mediocre opposition. They couldn't do it the CL. Armstrong is of a similar level imo

I’m delighted he’s gone. Didn’t want to be here anyway. Anything upwards of £5million is excellent business.

He’ll do very well down there. Loads of bang average footballers kicking about. He’s also got the fitness and energy to give the bigger teams midfields something to think about.

Everybody bangs on about the jump up in quality but guys like Adam, Bannan, Naismith etc. have all gone down there and done well. Jos Hooiveld is one of Southampton’s best ever defenders ffs.

He will do well in England but will take him a few months to settle in.

They all have a semi decent first touch..

Armstrong usually tries to control the ball and his second touch is him chesting it, trying to still bring it under control..

What about the 2 arms up lofted corners straight in to the keeper's hands :giggle1:

Technically no, Johansen has much better touch and passing range which is the biggest part of being a midfielder, been excellent for Fulham.

Suppose you’re right. Meant to say one of their best ever centre backs. You’d be surprised if you spoke to a Southampton fan.

    * wee irrelevant club like West Brom, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace etc who all think they’re big time.

Half the league all share the same songs and all rejoice as a collective about their league which is so bizarre in itself.

Outside of about three teams who are genuinely entertaining and world class outfits, you couldn’t pay me to watch it.

The fans of the EPL corporation have that annoying sense of entitlement that the Govan mob have. It must be a British thing. Flows through their veins, that natural way that they can be so condescending yet so deluded at the same time.

    * have the cheek to turn their nose up at the signing of Armstrong. Sheer ignorance.

Heart is also a big part of being a midfielder being brave in the tackle aswell as on the ball,
And Johansen and Armstrong are likely to go missing in some EPL games.

Johansen was brave in the tackle, that was part of his issue his last season here he would go diving in when he didn’t need to and run about like a headless chicken trying to catch players.

EPL isn’t near as physical as up here, down their * just fall about as soon as their touched.

Johansen was limited with us he also became undroppable under ronny, as i say Armstrong is a better player than him in my opinion ,but with Ntcham ,broony and Mcginn would give us better options.
