Rightly so, people are worried. He has a year left on his contract, and it looks like his head has been turned by interest elsewhere.

People always say that but it's * to lose good players, especially one who could be great for another 7 or 8 years here, he'll be very hard to replace. Especially the way he's now playing where he covers every blade of grass all over the pitch and has been scoring for fun. Petrov left in 2007 I think and it took a decade for Armstrong to come along and fill that role to a similar level.

Will be a sickener. He's a clever guy on his own. Add a money hungry agent in to it, demands and a contract running down and we've got problems..

This needs to be cleared up asap either way in my opinion..

Give him a deadline, if a contract hasn't been signed or decision made by then inform clubs of his availability...

Yeah I remember when we signed Ledley the manager of Cardiff at time (maybe Dave jones) said Ledley has stalled and stalled and stalled then left and Ledley was doing same at Celtic then lawwell punted him to palace and his contract has ran out again at palace

Smart * i'd say generally have things well planned, it could just be he only ever planned to play for us for this contract then move to England for the 2nd half of his career. We'll never know.

Hopeully he just signs but I doubt it, it would never be left this late.

I definitely think his age is a factor here. He signs a 4 year deal he may not get a move to England till 28 or so..

I've a feeling he wants to try his luck now also..

    Bummer..

It's a lot to replace 17 goals from midfield from a guy who missed first 3 months of the season so from November to may he got 15/16 goals in all comps that's a big void to try and fill.

Brendan Rodgers believed in him and gave him his chance.

Stuart seems a very sensible and educated boy but I think if it is true he has stalled and is demanding silly money then not only is he being disrespectful to Celtic but also to Brendan who has coached and no doubt developed him.

But would you have to say is keep him till Jan and lose on a free or maybe a nominal sum and perhaps lose moussa now or sell Armstrong for £8m plus the now and keep moussa for this season could be a option?

Have to say if he does move on as a person he will have gone down in my estimation because he has had a good two thirds of a season and we have paid his wages since February 2015 and he didn't really kick a ball for us until November 2016 so he got paid 18 months wages for * all I feel even if deila did play him out of position.

Worth noting though rogic and Forrest did the same before Brendan came in and both them signed new deals mid August last year.

It's a guessing game by media and a waiting game for us....

I'll cling on to hope that Armstrong wants to do the deal himself and go through the contracts etc and just hasn't had time to do it yet :celt_2:

The thought of him going to a wee * team like that is sickening :99: Fletcher and Morrison still play for them, two absolute diddies.

I don't know why folk get so worked up about him and his beautiful gorgeous fringe going elsewhere. He's a Rodgers protege, he's here for the 10.

Maybe because of the fact he has a year left on his contract, and negotiations have been stalling for months. :39:

He has grown on me over the last 6 months I can't deny it, this from a position where I thought he was utter dross and had just as weak a mentality as his buddy GMS. But he proved me very wrong last season, that goal against Hamilton away was absolutely stunning. Although I do still have suspicions about his ability to consistently perform on the European stage for us, I would still very much like him to sign a new contract.

But if it's not to be it's not to be and as long as we get a decent whack for him (Which we could then pt towards Roberts) then we can move on as there are plenty of other players we have who can step into his position.

I would take 6M for Armstrong. Let him go if he wants. He is not really Celtic minded anyway. Dundee United man. We will survive without him.
