The longer this goes on the more uneasy I get.

He seemed very keen to stay when he spoke about his future at the end of last season and for that reason I was confident he'd get tied down on a long-term deal.

Don't know why it has taken so long to get sorted.

Was thinking this myself - wonder if he's waiting to see if we're in the CL again before making his decision. If we don't qualify he might think he can get out this summer before the window closes as we'll want a fee for him.

I don't think a player that has been here for a number of years and experienced what the club is all about will make a decision based on CL qualification. I can understand why a quality player that is elsewhere might do that, but not Armstrong.

It would be in Armstrong's best interests to sign a new deal. He's been transformed by our coaching staff resulting in international recognition.

He'll be on less than 10k a week, if he's being offered 20k or near that and not signing he's being unreasonable in my opinion.

Does anyone think the board are low-balling him whilst they wait to see who else we get in, and they've maybe ringfenced a certain amount of wages for a big signing or that?

I hope not mate, because he's only going to get better... Brendan holds him in high esteem and I'm sure he'll sign a new deal.

He will move on eventually though, I reckon another two years here and he'll have his pick of clubs.

He's only experienced CL football once though mate, if he moves he might never experience it again..

If he stays for another two years and performs well in the CL and at International Level he could get a move to a CL side who play in a better league too.

Think he'd be mental to move at the moment, needs to consolidate his excellent season last year.

If a player can have his wages trebled or better elswhere then i don't think playing CL football would enter into the equation tbh.

Agree he would be better staying, but that's from a fans perspective lol.

Will we get big money for someone with a year left on his contract though?

His pals here seem to be GMS and Sviatchenko, maybe he's waiting to see if they both get punted before he decides to sign a new deal. I don't see us selling him though, he'll either sign a new deal or be off for a free next summer.

Not a chance we would get £10m.

Still think he will sign but this is taking a silly amount of time. Don't care what anyone says. Definitely something holding this up.

With a year left on his deal?

No way. He had a great season but he can't command the kind of fees a Moussa Dembele would even with a year left.

I didny realise it was only a year :55: I thought it was 2. We'd be lucky to get £5million for him now.

Doubt it, if he doesn't sign it'll most likely be because he doesn't want to stay. Same as Maloney or Ledley who knocked back contract after contract for a long time or even James Forrest who'd likely have gone for sure if Rodgers didn't come.

It's not that hard to sign one if you want to stay you just arrange a meeting with the board and go in and negotiate until it's signed.

It's worrying considering he'll probably triple his wages by signing a new contract so why if he wanted to stay didn't he sign one 3/4 months ago and could have probably earned a good £100k more than he has in that time.
