Wanyama dominated a game in MF against Iniesta and Xavi in their primes, let's not be silly here.

Stop talking *. The game you're on about, we had 27% possession. Wanyama did not come close to dominating Iniesta or Xavi.

Yet Brown kept both Ledley and Kayal out of the team at various stages. Funny that.

Wanyama isn't in a different universe to Brown, thats a ridiculous comment. As good as Wanyama is and was for Celtic, Brown has been a better player for us.

The way you speak about Celtics second most successful captain ever is embarrassing.

I'm not doubting our % of possession that night, he still dominated that MF though breaking up lots of their attack.

Remember the name Jamie Redknapp gave him that night? The fireman he called him.

Browns having a very good season this year I can't doubt that, however I've never really rated him very highly before this season and he certainly has never been this consistent.

Lenny just didn't want to upset the apple cart a lot in regards to his selection with Brown over Ledley/Kayal. And let's be honest Lenny did make some baffling decisions at times. Selecting Mulgrew in MF over Kayal/Leldey is another that comes to mind.

Scott Brown had the top percentage of passes completed in Britain this year on average in Europe for British teams. Did Wanyama not play this year in Europe? Aye. Did Brown not face tougher opposition than him? Aye. That point is as valid as yours.

Did wee Davie next door refer to Brown as a Ghost buster? Aye!

Ledley and Kayal play for Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Two good players and I liked both at Celtic, but where do people like you get the idea that they were a level above Brown from?

Do you seriously think Brown wouldn't be good enough to get into Crystal Palaces team?

The Tony Watt 2-1 game? I was there and Wanyama did not dominate the midfield. Amazing result but we defended for our lives and got lucky.

He was the best player on the park up to that point IMO.

He is a beast. A lot of players 'earn' that tag but he is different gravy. The current side are crying out for Victor Wanyama.

Aye I think my memory is going sometimes reading a thread. As much as I loved big Victor he was nowhere near as good for Celtic as Brown has been. I've really admired Broony for years because he seems to always produce the goods. The only time I can't remember him producing was the latter half of last season when I was worried about his health.

Broon is first name on the team sheet and has been for some time.

Victor did not dominate midfield against Barca :giggle1: I remember well how terifying that match was as much as it was fantastic. Barce were relentless and it's the greatest defensive performance I've ever seen. The dedication and commitment of the whole team was breathtaking. Rarely did we get into midfield. Victor was brilliant though and played his part. He definitely left a lot of power about the pitch making sure Barce knew he was there. His confidence was great, they didn't phase him at all.

He was a legend that night. I'll never forget him because of it. :notworthy

But he'll not replace Broony as our captain and midfield dynamo for the last 7 years :ynwacelti

I would love to have Victor back. No denying he's a brilliant midfielder full of power. Exactly who we need to partner Brown. It would be amazing to get that lucky again.

People watch Vic just now and think he's raised his level to the EPL.

Absolutely not the case. He was slapping people sideways 3/4 years ago in the Champions League.

I think we could say the same about Virgil. So classy. It was obvious he was of a much higher quality than the typical EPL player and his abilities rare. I wanted us to get £20m for him. I'm not surprised big clubs are after him now.

I don't know why people thought Southampton bought Victor if his game wasn't already at EPL level? It was obvious and a surprise a bigger club didn't come in for him. The way he can brush someone off the ball as if they're not there is awesome power. His touch is quality too.

Ian Wright was so desperate for Arsenal to sign Victor when he was at Saints. He was exactly what they needed he said to give them that extra edge they were missing at the last 16 and top 4 stage. Arsene didn't listen for some reason.

We've provided teams with some players over the years.

Vic was top 4 EPL when he left us IMO.

Southampton won a watch same as they with Fraser and VVD.

Vic was excellent for us, I agree. I'd never argue that.

Brown has been as good, if not better, and more important for longer and also been outstanding in Europe, countless times.

You won't get an argument about that from me.

Brown has raised his level beyond anything I've ever seen from him. Absolutely ridiculous. And that's from someone that's lived for 5 or 6 years hoping we'd go and buy a replacement.
