Who says they are neds ? WGS ?

That doesn't make someone who criticises him a ned, becaus ehe says so.

It shows a lack of respect for supporters who have aright to an opinion.

In fairness GS did say that doesn't apply to every fan and the ones he met have been pleasant.

The media are always trying to create news by whipping the weak minded supporters into a frenzy, without this tabloid junk most of the hacks would be out of a job. All these eejits phoning into Real radio & Clyde 1 shouting the odds about Strachan being a "disgrace" and saying "I've never liked him" just add fuel to the fire.:31:

Strachan has proved that the club means alot to him and he has said often enough that he loves his job, he has brought success while letting the money men get the finances under control.

We as supporters have to back the manager especially when he has delivered so much success, some fans need to show a bit of loyalty to the club.

We are in a fantastic position and when we win the title this year we are going to be champions for the next five years as we have no debt and can still spend money on players unlike rangers who have to sell.:84:

I do. He lumps all of his critics in to one 'neddy' category.

He has made it abundantly clear that he does not respect the opinions of those who haven't earned a living from the game.

The night the devil dugs story broke, a wee pensioner (I doubt he was coked up) phoned in and explained that he had seen WGS in the car park at CP and asked if he could speak to him. The pensioner said taht WGS dismissed him with a wave of his hand and said 'Away and phone radio station'

You won't have heard his interview with Lesley Riddoch on Radio Scotland about 18 months ago. It was a non-football show - an exercise by Celtic's PR to improve his public image - he made an * of himself, arguing with the female presenter making it crystal clear that he had no time for anyone's opinion.

genuine question here (I don't know the answer) does he do much with the supporter's club ?

Maybe you should post an audio clip of the phone in that was being referred to and we'd judge if they were neds or not.

How would you refer to people, that have no experience in your profession, telling you how to go about your job and being totally disrespectful about it? Would you respect their opinion or tell them where to get off?

Clearly, critics like to take things out of context as you just did which proves my point in my first post on this thread.

Yes, if you agree with him. His view is somewhat different if you don't. Not every critic of WGS is a ned.

The majority footballers and managers get media handling training. Why are you singling out Strachan? You are trying to make a big deal out of nothing

If they had followed my profession all of their lives, watched it all of their lives, taken part in it all of their lives and put up every penny which I earned then yes I would.

Why is criticism of him disrespectful ?

I have no issue with them getting media training. It doesn't seem to have worked with WGS is the point I'm making.

I don't think criticism of him is disrespectful when it relates to results and/or performances but when it's based on his character then it is disrespectful.

It wasnt the criticism, it was the abusive nature during the phone in was the problem and he explained that fully but you ignore that point which he made

I must say, they are good examples. And I've never heard of him working with the supporter's club.

What I'd say in regards to the bigotry allegation, is that Strachan would have an easier time with the fans if he was a Celtic man, but that doesn't necessarily mean that when he gets stick it's because he isn't a Celtic man.

It could be argued that his character lacks respect for others.

Do you think him calling the former Hearts assistant manager a 'leech' is respectful ?

In a high profile job, such as Celtic Manager, your character, and conduct, are important. You are representing an institution.

Infractions didnt work for you either! :icon_mrgreen:

Its not easy to change a person character, but he's character under the media spotlight has nothing to do with his managerial ability, yet he's on trial by some fans for his character rather than his management.

His personality traits should have no bearing on assessing his management
