People that are unable to accept his opinion are bigots. They jump on him everytime things go wrong for him. Lets starting calling a spade a spade here.

Martin has on previous occasions described his hatred for Strachan and the fact that he isnt Celtic Minded, yet you dont see him now expressing his hatred, he is trying to hide it behind highly subjective reasons.

None of which acknowledge the reality of being in the SPL these days and the task he has been handed by the board. Its a very different task to what MON was given.

If that's more important than success, let's just appoint some PR person with no managerial training.

Do you think Strachan's "offensiveness" outweighs the success he has brought to the club? If so, you need to realise he is employed to win trophies, not to entertain you.

I love beating the Huns, bit I don't delude myself.

I watched that game with an English guy and the quality of football was embarrassing.

But that doesn't stop him doing his job as Celtic manager, he comes across as arrogant and offensive in interviews and I don't like that but as I've never met him and don't know what he's really like I refuse to let a media persona dictate whether or not I support the manager.

Martin, you and I both know that perceptions are just as important as the facts.

I agree that ironically there was never any clear evidence that MO'N was a huge Celtic man. But he ticked a lot of the right boxes. The name, the religion and the Nationality.

The same applies to Strachan, but in reverse.

I don't agree about his mannerisms, but everyone forms their own opinion of a persons personality based on their own likes and dislikes. I find him an interesting guy.

His team regualrly won games playing a nice game with a few goals. WGS's teams regularly grind out results and i heard some guy say on commentary something like 16 games or so in the last two seasons under WGS have been won in the last 5 minutes by the odd goal. Not saying that it isnt exciting scoring in the last 5 mins as we still get the win but we play dull boring football for most of the match and should be winning by more. You could say this is just my opinion but i think alot of fans will agree with me even the people that like WGS. Anybody watching the last few Old Firms games and the quality of football on show was embarassing.

I think its fair to say the team of 03 up against the team of today would wipe the floor with them and then come back for more. Today there are no players such as Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Petrov. Maybe the fans still like MON for his connection with that team who knows

We got to a Uefa Cup final, i know people say this is now the European equilvalant of the "diddy cup" but for me i was a young boy getting to that final was an amazing achievement and is for me still the finest moment I have ever watched the hoops pull off. Last 16 for me is great but still doesnt have the same buzz as being in a final even if it is a lesser tournament. Fans still feel emotionally connected with Seville and the scenes they witnessed so maybe thats another reasons why they still like MON.

O'Neil just appealed to the fans, even in interviews. Im sure alot of people haven't forgot the fist salute with Lennon after the last game ? im not saying GS has to like us and go all commando i love Celtic as he doesnt but at least talk a good game on interviews and talk some sense dont come out with pish like "we played Fantastic today" when we drew 1-1 and played drab. He also always comes across as arogant and he bums up players when they are evidently playing rather poorly. Why not say it as it is ?

    A few reasons i reckon ^^:celt_2:

Who said that ? Please show me.

I like trophies but I also want a good team playing good football. We are not getting that.

Well, for me, I'm much more interested in a manager's record rather than his attitude. I understand where you're coming from, but he's hardly a * is he?

I just feel we can let the man off for his personality flaws, given that he's doing very well in his job as manager.

Fair enough. I'm too young to really remember much of the "Tommy Burns era" and that standard of football I hear so much about, maybe that's why it doesn't affect me as much.

Of course it would, but the league has changed - we can't afford those tyes of players anymore so you are making an unfair comparison.

I've no idea and couldn't care less. As I said it's all about perception. He doesn't tick the right boxes for a lot of Celtic fans and he makes no attempt to disguise the fact that he was a Hibee with no interest in Celtic until becoming manager.

    As is your right.

I have no idea either, and also couldn't care less. Yet I am told I am a bigot because I don't like him ?

You're not a bigot Martin. You were just exercising your right to find someone to be an *.

Does that make you feel better? :icon_mrgreen:

Of course you can use could haves. It's either Celtic or Rangers who's going to win the SPL, clearly. I don't think it's ludicrous to say another manager could have won the 3 SPL titles that WGS did.

These are my opinion of the signings I can remember.

    Brown - Great signing now.
    Caldwell - Same.
Nakamura - Genius in my eyes, great find.
Boruc - Arguably the best GK in the clubs history. Brilliant find.
    Sno - *. Flopped.
Gravesen - Donkey with a big reputation. Wasted wages. Disappointing signing. Flopped.
Zurawski - Had his good and bad moments. Had one good season. Poor signing overall IMO. Ultimately a flop.
Hutchinson - Can't comment really. But I doubt he'd strike fear into Ferdinand and Vidic in a Champions League last 16 tie.
JVOH - Done exactly that ^^. Good signing, regardless of this season. Usually guarantees you 20 goals a season.
    McDonald - Good signing.
    Chris Killen - Flop.
Shaun Maloney - It'd be unfair to comment, considering he's a Celtic youth product. Strachan only brought him back home.
Samaras - Flop. I know he looked like Pele at the start of the season, but he isn't very talented and the majority of fans want him dropped for a striker who's only scored what? 6 goals this season? Says it all really.
    Kenny Miller - Flop.
    Riordan - Mega flop.
Naylor - Looked good first season. Flop though, as we're so, so desperate for a replacement.
    Jarosik - IMO flopped.
Mark Brown - Not even decent back-up.
Stevie Pressley - Signed for the experience, but hardly a good or badsigning.
Doumbe - Flop, severely. Where the * is he?
Hartley - Average signing. Vital in the run-in last year. Definitely not flopped. Plays his part each year.
    Robson - Same as above.
    Dion Dublin - LOL!
Roy Keane - Same as Stevie Pressley.
    Mo Camara - Again, lol!
Hinkel - Starting to look like a very good signing. One of the best players at the club.
    Donati - Flop.
Du Wei - Lol. Awesome signing tbh.
Paul Telfer - Not bad, done a good job. Also forced arguably the best save I've ever seen from any GK at Old Trafford, remember that save from Boruc? Awesome.
Mark Wilson - I like the lad, but I can't say he's been anything other than a flop. Injuries are to blame though, as he can be a good player at times. His positioning is terrible though, where the * was he for Novo's goal last season at CP?
Adam Virgo - Dear * *. Flop, flop and more flop!

Good stuff. I won't need to kill you then. :icon_mrgreen:

But remember Dundee United away? But remember Hibs at CP? But remember Kilmarnock away? But remember Aberdeen away?

There's plenty more games which would probably prove that zonal marking is our downfall and definitely where to aim for if you want to beat us.

Aalborg away. Hearts away. Rangers cup final. Dundee United away. St.Mirren away. Hibs away. There has probably been more.
