It's unfair to compare Jansen and Venglos IMO. Neither were at the club long enough for opinions on either to become so entrenched.

Jansen in particular has become something of a folk hero for stopping the 10, and rightly so. But like any other manager if you stay at one club for long enough then you'll rack up enough mistakes or defeats to turn supporters against you.

Fs man :56::56: every Celtic fan under the sun calls it the Diddy cup when the huns win it as well. Its like swings and roundabouts. Theres no denying however that the Scottish cup is the better cup and i seem to recall us being knocked out of it quite a few seasons under GS :50:

Not that long ago you were saying the UEFA Cup was a diddy cup, now your bumming up the League cup.

Our record in the cups is quite poor under WGS.

Yeh we're not but that started under MON yet your trying to blame it on WGS but your theory that teams come here thinking they can get a draw I don't agree with.

Plus if we're getting into a MON WGS arguement, WGS has a better record at home in Europe than MON.

This is what's important as well as Dempsey's earlier points about clearing the debt at the same time. Nothing else, although I'm with you in a lot of your other points.

Neither of them was 'Celtic minded'. Fact.

I am disproving the common, lazy, inaccurate assertion made by pro-WGS fans.

We've won 3/8, exact same as MON, I'm not saying it's brilliant but it's not awful either.

Not bumming up anything. I stated a fact that we beat Rangers in a Cup Final for the first time in 20 years. I agreed with you that it is less prestigious than the Scottish Cup, but denying Rangers a trophy is always satisfying.

Maybe so. But our record in the league is quite good under WGS.

There are far more important things to Celtic than either of the Domestic Cups.

It's all very well claiming that, but you can't use "what ifs" and "maybes" and "could haves" in a debate. Strachan did win 3IAR.

We've been through all his signings on here a bunch of times, and the players classed as "flops" were far from a majority.

    I agree with this

Gary Pendrey is our defensive coach, and the man who trains the team for zonal marking. Of course, it's Strachan's decision to use it, but remember the CIS Cup Final against Rangers? It worked a treat then.

I think it's a huge exaggeration to say the majority of away games, maybe two or three out of 15 or so.

I also think that's the most important thing.

Having read loads of you previous posts Martin, I wouldn't say you were in the so called camp of disliking WGS because of the "Celtic Minded" reason. With what I can recall, you've disapproved of his style of play. Am I right?

You misunderstood my post, I said I'd never heard a Celtic fan try to undermine our achievement since our win, not in history.

I don't think it disproves anything. It's a lazy and convenient counter argument.

Explain why WGS' less successful predecessor is still vastly more popular, seeing as he was at Celtic for a similar length of time.

Maloney was injured, Jan was off-form, Boyd isn't a regular starter and Bougherra was injured.

So both teams picked the strongest sides.

If I put lots of smilies does it make me right ?:56::56::56:

The broad picture is that we, despite three in a row, are not very good.

We are indeed subject to financial restraints - which makes it all the more vital that we play well with what we've got, don't sign too many duffers, get the best out of our players and have some consistency. IMO that's been lacking.

I think I have made it quite clear in long, reasonably articulate, posts what I think of WGS. Do you not agree ?

Fair enough mate :50: was just stating that it is like swings and roundabouts when it comes to these things as a lot of fans from both sides see it as the 2ndary cup comapared the Scottish cup.

I don't understand that one either.

I used to be in the "anti-Strachan brigade" but his results have turned me round, I really don't see what more he can do to change peoples opinion of him, he's won the league every year - what more do people want?

Neither of those two managers were Celtic minded when they joined the club yet they weren't hated as WGS was - from the word go.

Tell me first how MON was 'Celtic minded' ? He never played for us, I was never ware of him ever making noises about how he supported us. In fact he probably played against us for Notts Forest when they pumped us.

Could it be that Strachan is offensive, arrogant, unpleasant, undignified ?

Do we even know what religion WGS is ?
