"Thousands of players out there" and probably 40 other clubs with deeper pockets than us. Between the lot of them I'm pretty sure they can unearth more gems than we can - I think out scouting network deserves more respect.

"Also, it seemed we only tried to do business towards the end of January" - Really we only hear of transfer dealings in the media. If Celtic had it their way we wouldn't hear a single thing until the deal is done. The truth is we are doing we transfer dealings as we speak, even during the close-window. Of course all the gory details come out during the media-spun "deadline day" and its buildup which has become a bit of a soap opera.

Back on topic, Dempsey got it spot on I reckon. However a quite reasonable concern is that even with Rangers in disarray we are only 3 points clear. OK so we've had rotten luck with injuries but some performances have been woeful.

I am confident we will win the league and with some shrewd signings next year we will be putting the final nail in the Rangers coffin.

Yes, when you're at a club where the opposition out-spend you over the season then how can you blame the manager?

You can tell he is not liked just have to listen to the fans. MON's name was sung loud and proud around Parkhead regularly on a matchday whereas i think i might have heard WGS name sang for 2 mins from a section of supporters at one game. See the difference ?

I know some people do like him but for the most part id say perhaps 70/30 or 60/40 percent dont like him. I have my reasons for disliking him but am not going to start on this again as i dont want any arguements. :celt_2::50:

I wonder why his critics arent stating their reasons....

It isnt a popularity contest and they cant argue with the key performance indicators so they'll probably pick on highly subjective things like team selection and tactics and try to make him out to be a bad manager based on hindsight of a few results taken out of context. Everyone's preference for tactics and selection will be different like their favourite colour so it would be really sad if you dislike him because he doesnt manage the team to your liking.

Very eloquent, a couple of posts ago you said that you didnt want an argument then you post that.

Irvy makes a very good point imo.

What other reason can there possibly be for Strachan not being accepted as Celtic manager?
Dont talk about tactics, team selection, playing players out of position, or substition policy because ultimately the manager has been proven correct with those descisions.......its impossible to argue with 3 (almost 4) titles in a row.

That's some approach to debating. You ask the question and then dismiss all the possible answers in your next sentence.

I don't like Strachan and it has nothing to do with him not being Celtic minded. Was Jansen Celtic minded ? Venglos ?

Funny how you pick up on my post when somebody else posted basically the exact same a few posts ago . I cant be bothered getting into this debate again as it always results in big arguements or threads being locked. Martin (and I on a few occasions) i would say on numerous occassions has posted a bad boy of a post detailing most of the reasons and none of the Strachan brigade where around then i wonder why ? or if you did you simply dismissed it as "*" and it resulted in infractions or bans so nobody is ever going to win this arguement until Strachan wins everything in the world and buys us Kaka and so on or until he leaves.

Also why ask me the question then basically handicap me with telling me i cant use any of the arguementative points. :56:

Did they play against Celtic in their playing career?

Did they get a rise out of Celtic fans like yourself to the point that you'd never forget?

I didn't like him at first and wasn't happy about his appointment because I didn't think he was good enough, I thought we could have got a better manager than Strachan in - I'm glad he proved me wrong.

I still criticise him if I think his tactics or selections were wrong but I think I'm less biased in my criticisms now compared to his first season, I'll also praise him now which I would never have done in season 1 of his regime.

Because it's been done a hundred times before ffs.

Also I don't think the OP is actually asking that, it seems to be asking whether or not he is unpopular among the support, which he is.

But since you want a fact which is not subjective - one victory away from home in 2009.:50:

Were they Celtic minded ? Yes or no ?

The answer is no. Be big enough to say it.

Knocked out of the Scottish cup yet again and made to do with the "Inferior" CIS cup which ive heard on numerous occassions of Celtic fans calling it the " Diddy cup" or the "Mickey Mouse" cup when the huns win it. :50:

It's * all to do with being Celtic minded. Wim Jansen wasn't and he's a legend in many people's eyes, mine included.

McGeady being a fan favourite and being touted as a possible Celtic legend is more likely to be about being "Celtic minded".

I dislike Strachan because he worries about the opposition too much. Why change the team going to Tynecastle? We're Celtic ffs. They should change their team to try and deal with us.

He's also really obvious in his team selections. I guarantee you Walter Smith knows what 11 Celtic will field at Ibrox, I guarantee he knew the 11 players last OF too.

His signings are mostly pathetic too. Only now is Scott Brown and Gary Caldwell justifying themselves and only Nakamura and Boruc are top-class players who could go on to play for bigger & better clubs than Celtic.

That's subjective. I thought we were sticking to the facts.

To the OP, there's no getting away from the fact no matter how successful he is or will be there's a section of fans that won't be down in the dumps when he eventually leaves. That's been the case since the day he walked through the door at Parkhead.

I was personally for his appointment and have enjoyed watching his Celtic side dominate Scottish football and progress in Europe. Some decisions he makes I don't agree with, his consistent trait of playing a physically imposing team against the better sides in the league for example, but the sum of the parts you can't quabble with.

As someone has already said, time will prove that what he has done here is not only carry on a legacy of league domination but improve on it.

Being unable to accept a manager opinion of how to manage a team despite being arguably 2nd most successful manager in the club's history smacks of bigotry

    :bbpd:

Top of the table means nothing then?
