Stokes’ second chance at Celts

OK, he is a good predator. We have other predators in the side now, most notably Morten Rassmussen but also Cillian Sheridan (who just became a full Irish international). I am not totally adverse to picking up stokes but the question remains for the manager, is he markedly better than what I got AND who do I move along to make room for him.

Rassmussen is the target man ,Stokes is not and is the player that plays off the said Target man , get real we cant sign the likes of Keane , Bellamy yes we did on loan deals , but to try bring either of these two here to buy and give a contract we would be talking around 15/ 20 million on 1 player over fee and lenght of contract ,

Hartson , Larsson , Sutton are one off types and we will never get that sort of player again for the money we payed back then ,

The market we are shopping in now is the likes of Stokes ,Hooper,Lambert etc ,

 

Dont want him, and dont believe he was a boy hood fan either, if he was he would have signed when they offered it the last time, can rot away at hibs for all i care or go and play in the championship!!! imo a dont even think he,s good enough for us, but if he signs he mite prove me wrong.

 

Get a grip mate, he made a mistake. Now if this bhoy comes he will out score boyd........ we need a proven spl goalscorer and this bhoy is THE answer, him and big ras up-front that will be a potent strike force.....

Twice he's been up here and twice he's banged the goals in for fun.
With better players around him and providing more chances, I think he would be prolific for us, and he's only 21.
IMO he could be the new Scott McDonald..small, agile and can finish. Him and big Ras up front, playing regularly, would be frightening and could easily get 40-50 goals between them.

Even though people are saying that he would'nt really do it on the european stage, that is irrelevent as the SPL is our absolute priority, and if he can do it in europe too that is a bonus.

And considering Steven Fletcher went to Wolves for £6.5m after only scoring 12 goals in all compititions, £2m for a young proven goalscorer (even at SPL standard) is relatively cheap IMO.

Would be hard to say no for £2m but would prefer other options if at all possible...

 

I'd love Stokes to sign he can be a 30 a season player for us.

If he stays with us for 10+ years (entirely possible at 21) he will be one of our top scorers ever.

Rate him highly.

 

I'm not sure we should explore other options. Stokes has proved himself in the SPL and is a natural goalscorer, I don't think we could find that elsewhere for £2m.

I think to find anyone better, they would be significantly dearer and more of a gamble. For the next few years the league has to be priority and I think Stokes could give us a decent push towards the SPL title next year.

Stokes is average at best and worth no more than 500k. He has rejected us once before for money so he can get to * if you ask me. He clearly isn't loyal and his off-field drinking and partying makes Riordan look like an Altar Boy.

14 goals in 16 for falkirk aswel though.would rather him than samaras tbh.he can score in the spl and is quick aswel.two things we lack
