Spot on mate. After the past year i am of the opinion that MON is a lot craftier than we were led to believe! Strachan inherited a sqaud of players who had come close to their sell by date and has done a great job having got rid of the deadwood and a couple of non-accepters! We are playing far more attractive football in my opinion, but we still need srenghthening for the big tilt!

wot are you people on martin o'neil is a legend and to be talking about him like this is a disgrace. he must have knocked by 4 or 5 big jobs in his time at celtic. his wife was i'll from the start of that season 04/05 if you rember thats why there was little transfer activity going on at that time. but he still came out and almost dragged the team to a championship all the while his wife was i'll. this is a meassure of the mans commitment to the club.

MON did his best while worrying about his wife so credit to him. As for GS, he deserves great praise for the double because he's said himself he's only just begun with this squad and he's planning for years ahead. To achieve this sucess this early on is great and will help the players next season. Having suffered the Clyde and Artmedia results will also strengthen our squad. This is just the beginning. Well done GS!

his wife may have been ill (and we all wish her a full recovery)but he gave his players (who he knew they were leaving or ending their careers)bumper deals balde, thompson ,sutton to name a few which put wgs under a finacial nightmare the money he recieved was a fraction compared to what mon got.

and listen gordon strachan has the balls to make tactical subs which may change the game which mon did not(and that is the truth) :50:

I too doubted Strachans ability when he got the job!

And I was probably one of the first to call for his head after the defeats at Artmedia & Clyde but now I believe the man has made ammends!

Two cups out of three aint bad imo & as long as he keeps going the way he has been things will only get better & better, maybe even the treble & a good cl run next season!

He still has a lot of work to do but he certainly seems to be heading in the right direction.

Time for us to start backing him 100%

You call yourself Celtic fans and you are all slating MON. That man is a celtic legend and those players deserved those deals by helping us to a european cup final and being loyal to the club, just like O'Neill was.

those players may have deserved improved deals off the back of the seville run. they didn't however deserve wage hikes on long term deals that are detrimental to the clubs long term rebuilding. thommo is sitting earning 20 grand a week and isn't playing, the only reason baldes still here is because no-one else would pay him the money and sutton's since left because he was asked to activate a wage decrease clause in the contract he signed.

as for whoever said these guys were who MON relied on so of course he would sort them out with new deals, who wouldn't? me for a start, o'neills job as manager is to manage the football club to the best of his ability not to make sure his mates end up with a good contract, in any other business what you're saying he did would be considered fraud!

still a big fan of MON and will never forget what he did for the club but at the same time there are areas he does deserve criticism

There can't be any room for doubt with strachan now? he's delivered two trophies and won the league the earliest celtic ever has. Fair enough he had a * start to the season and yeah we were all fearful of the future then but since then hes come good. Strachan did something Mon could never do and that was sign a decent goaly and give the young boys a run in the team. He also has the balls to drop players like thompson when they play gash. And look at Maloney, with a shadow of a doubt the best player in our team this season and the best player in the SPL

I also doubted GS at the start of the season, but he has made me eat my words, i hope he continues in this vain next year, with proper backing that he has asked for, we can qualify from the Group stages of CL. IF the huns can, we can. Also think MON is a legend. Hope Keane stays next year will be vital for CL.

GS made me eat my words too.he's worked hard to get where he is and now that he's won 2 titles he'll be hungry for more.CL looks good but we still need work to be REAL contenders!

Everyones entitled to there opinion thats why this is a forum but imho wgs redeemed himself the second he won the title in convincing fashion with some lovely free flowing football and the fact he done this with virtually a new team. I also live abroad but i dont miss a single game live as i subscribe 2 channel67+ at celticfc.net and even if you miss the game you can get it anytime from midnight that night. Maybe if you do that you would also be able too see for yourself how exellent the bhoys have been this year. hail, hail.

I think its brilliant the effort and time he obviously puts into the club. You can see he has the grit and determination to succeed. It has paid off this year. I dont think you could blame him for the Bratislava game, it did come a bit quick and they are a decent side. Clyde game we were all caught up in the Keane debut and du wei had a shocker, these things happen.

The only doubts I have about him are his lack of experience in Europe and some of the signings he has made are a bit dubious, Virgo for example.

GS has all the hallmarks of being a successful manager for Celtic. I'm confident that he can equal or better the success that MON had. And he'll do it with a fraction of the money that MON had.

The huge changes in personnel last year was the root cause of the CL disaster, maybe he unestimated the effect it had but we have to stop whining about that push forward. I think the bratislava game will be confined to the history books and statisticans with nothing better to do. This summer shall draw players to us IF we get automatic CL qualification.

If GS can pull in some real talent, which he has proven in the past that he can do it, then along with some trophy hunger young Celts we can go places. The problem for GS now is that the WC is going to inflate some players transfer fees.

MON is a legend at this club and always will be but we cannot hide the fact he handed the likes of Bobo Balde a deal worth 33,000 a week when we get players like Naka and Zurawski for a fraction of that! he also gave all the old guard big payouts before he left knowing that they would never be as good!

is this forum full of people from Canberra

not the great Colin Tulley of Weston Creek,...... did you know this guy scored more goals than Henrik, did not repeat did not go to Seville, and has as much hair as Henrik

I agree Col, we would never have lost to Artmedia 5-0 or bought Camara (Burnley) Aladiere (Useless) Virgo (Brighton) under O'Neill

however we still be playing Thompson and the slow crew and probably lost to youth of Motherwell on the last day coz we were too old too slow.

Fair play to Strachan but we have a big big step to maek next season and can't see Strachan's team causing Bayern Lyon, Barca and Juve any real problems

    we will see

    Welcome Colin
