    Just heard about this.

    Best wishes going out to him. An excellent player for us, and imo a very honourable guy, who quite deliberately made sure the club got a decent fee for him when he left.

    But all that is in the past now. The condition he has is aggressive, & let's not kid ourselves, his life is in real danger here.

    Why not ask Celtic to ask Villa to play a friendly in the summer, doesn't matter were, and donate all the proceeds to leukaemia research. I am sure Stan would appreciate the gesture.

    Stilian Petrov, I'll always remember you as a brilliant attacking midfielder for Celtic that scored important goals for fun as no 19. I always had your name on back of my Celtic shirt. I'm really affected by this awful news today. Never agreed with you being employed as a defensive midfielder further along your career but true to your character you just kept going. You are a truly inspirational person. You WILL beat this. Dont worry cos we all know that Stan is the man! :)

    He's the current captain there and has made over 200 appearances for Villa. No doubt that he is a highly popular figure in the British game and revered down there as much as he is here.
