on a years deal or pay as you play he would be worth a bash.never know how good someone could be,or how bad.look at berkovic, ian wright for example.top players and didn't do too well.then you get guys like larsson and moravcik that no one expected to do well and they were amazin

No Brown playing midfield got us so far behind the huns in the title race and when robson and hartley played and brown was on the bench we beat the huns twice and eventually the title. As for reid when fit a very good play good energy and a * of a shot on him.

We should be steering clear of guys with long term injuries, bit of a worry if this is the calibre of player we are looking at !

Reid's a decent Premiership player. Injuries have been a problem, granted, but he'll have a thorough medical and will sign nothing if he is a genuine certainty for constant injuries. A few years back the guy was a talked about Prmeiership midfielder and a regular international. A couple of years of injuries does not suddenly make him a bad player. We need to wheel and deal and take risks, we cannot go out an sign proven Premiership/ International midfielders. Invest in youth and players with quality but whose careers have stagnated a little, plus two solid first teamers, that's the way we wil function this summer. Get used to it, and stop expecting Richard Dunne, Jimmy Bullard and Craig Bellamy through the door: you're setting yourselves up for disappoinment. I'd be pleased with Reid on a free.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Steven Reid could be Celtic's first summer signing despite the Glasgow side still being without a new manager.

The 29-year-old has been in talks with the Scottish Premier League club after being freed by Blackburn Rovers.
But no deal will be done until after Celtic return from Germany, where they are playing St Pauli in a friendly match on Tuesday evening.
Reid had spells on loan to Championship sides West Brom and QPR this season.
He made only two appearances for QPR during his month with the London club.
But he played 10 times for West Brom after moving to the Hawthorns in April, helping the Midlands outfit finish second and win promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
West Brom had reportedly been keen to retain his services once he became a free agent, but Celtic caretaker manager Neil Lennon now appears to be leading the chase for his signature.
London-born Reid had joined Blackburn from Millwall for £2.5m in 2003, but injury problems ruled him out of much of the 2006-07 season and the whole of 2008-09.
He was unable to force himself into Sam Allardyce's first team on a regular basis this season and could now look to resurrect his career in Scotland's top flight.

I'm pretty sure we could attract Robert Koren if we made an attempt, he's played in the premiership and will be captaining his country at the World Cup.

There are quality players out there, we don't need to settle for injury-prone could-have-beens.

I dont know anything about him but what if is being said on here then we should go for him. Im starting to think that now we're approaching players the board have decided to stick with lennon but havent announced it yet,for some unknown reason.

Don't know enough about the guy to comment on whether he's a good player or not but I don't really like that statement. Sounds to me like his prefered option is the EPL and if West Brom made him an offer he would take it.

If fit & on form, then we can't attract him - if he's not, then he's not worth a punt.

Gets the goals supernick? 30 in 326? Just what we need, another non scoring midfielder, better out there for less wages.

Reid is better and way cheaper on a free than N'Guemo (who would cost transfer $)

    Good move.....IF he stays healthy...
