He's taller than CCV. Any problem he has, can be coached out.

He'll never be a 1st choice here, no point painting it any other way. We need something in January to bolster the defence as in strength.

Two years older than Abada and folk are still hitting out with the ‘youngster’ patter to defend him.

He’s utterly dross and folk would be slaughtered for suggesting him as a signing if he was at another SPL club.

I totally agree. Easy to pick on him, thank * Ralston wasn’t playing today, he’d have been slaughtered on here, although as I’ve said many a time, I’d have him in every week before Juaranovic. Welsh made one bad pass all game, lost a couple of headers but all in all done ok. There’s others that were far far worse than him today; Juaranovic, what does he give us that Ralston doesn’t, O’Reily, been poor for a few games now, Maede, apart from the fact he is fast I don’t see what he adds to us. His touch is brutal and his passing is, well, murder. Hatate is ok and only ok, I can totally understand why he hasn’t made the international team. Spreads the odd pass and yes scored a good goal today but, not convinced by his overall ability because he gives it away too easily.
The break hasn’t helped us, hopefully get back to form soon because Wednesday could be a hard shift.

I think for a boy that's been used fairly sparingly, he comes in and does a decent job; plays out from the back confidently. Think some people just don't like him regardless of what he does. If we've actually knocked back bids for him and Ange continues playing him, he obviously thinks he can do a job when required so folk should get off the boy's back. Criticism is fine where it's deserved, I think we can work on his aerial duels, but it's constant with some folk. There's some folk on here I don't think I can remember ever seeing anything positive about any * in the team, doom and gloom all the time. Particularly in the second half, I thought he started off our attacks really well; more than Jenz I thought. Can definitely improve but again thinking back, the only major thing he got wrong I can remember was that pass in the second half. If it's another player doing that they don't get the same treatment and there were plenty of slack passes yesterday.

Thought he was awrite. Not at our level yet but neither was big ajer until we loaned him. You've then to put up with the young lad learning after that. Has he got the potential? Yes. Only way to reach that is to allow mistakes to learn from.

Plus hs did his job. They never scored. We did :fear:

Some people seem to need a player to irrationally criticise. In recent years they've gone through Morgan, Christie, Ralston and Taylor. They don't seem to learn that young players, given a bit of time, can mature and improve - all those players I've mentioned have gone on to have decent careers. Welsh is a good player with scope for improvement. I think we'd struggle to get a better player who'd be happy to be our 4th choice CB.

Var should help us because I’ve seen it for last four seasons where if roles are reversed the striker gets the free kick the Lanarkshire refs allow the big striker upfront to ruff up centre backs why carthorses like Curtis main still get a game

You do t have a clue mate you can’t put growth down to a number all the time jota is younger than Mickey Johnstone but if you looked at the two of them you would say jota is the older one look at Barry Robson and Paul Hartley didn’t play for Celtic until they were much older some players bloom later

Can we please stop this "youngster" patter.

    He's 22. Not 16.

To put in perspective, Ryan Porteous is but a few months older, and despite being a * with a clanger in him every game, he's miles ahead of Welsh in terms of development and ability.

This is Celtic Fc. Not hibs.

This is the spfl. Not the Bundesliga.

Any 6 foot CB getting out muscled bullied by the dross we face on weekly basis shouldnt even make the bench nevermind the starting 11.

This is not me "picking on him" or making him a "whipping boy".

Hes quite simply not good enough. And never will be.

22 is still young especially for a CB. They don't usually peak til their late 20s (obviously there will be a few exceptions). Taylor was 21 when he came to us. He's nearly 25 now. I don't think anybody would argue that he's improved a lot over that time. No reason why Welsh can't do the same.

Must be amazing to know the future.
When Taylor was getting all the criticism did you know how much he was going to improve.

Can’t cop that. Porteous? Really? If Welsh was playing consistently he’d be miles in front of Porteous. Porteous is nothing but a clogger with no guile. Welsh is much better on the ball and is probably comparable defensively. The difference is Porteous plays week in week out, because he’s not good enough to be here as a backup let alone a starter. Welsh is good enough for a backup.
