You always want to see guys who come through the academy be a success but the reality is at this point its best for Welsh as a player if he moves on he needs to play regularly so hopefully he can find a good move come January. I will say this though if we sell both Welsh and Nawrocki in January that would be a risk without a replacement.

If him and Nawrocki go then a replacement is needed. You can't have just 3 centre backs.

On the surface ot seems like Welsh will be off and Dane Murray may be promoted to the first team as a replacement. Would be all for that tbh.

Must have had a bid accepted as Murray is being recalled in January

Totally agree and thats why it seems that if its correct that Dane Murray will be back in January then this makes sense. You move on 2 players who clearly don't have a future at Celtic and get some money for them as well as trimming the squad and wage bill while a young academy player comes back from a loan spell and joins the first team squad giving us that 4th center back as cover and giving us as well roughly half a season to assess does he have a future at Celtic or do we need to sign a new center back come the summer. If that indeed turns out to be the scenario that comes to pass next month that makes sense to me.

It is time for him to move on for his own career. Rodgers clearly doesn’t rate him as he has played him once all season.

Nawrocki is the same just been here a shorter time. They would both need to move for their careers. Young guys could sit it out but their career will nose dive. They both move on now they probably have some stock in past performance.

Must be hard to make football decisions when you're living a dream tho.

Hope he can still get a move to Italy and doesn't end up down south, I think he's a lot better than he's shown in his last few appearances for us, so hopefully he goes and proves it.

If he does stay in the SPFL, then the Sheep should be all over it, depending on what we'd ask for.

Bit like Ralston, there's no issue with him as a fourth choice back up, but you've got to imagine he wants to play football and see's himself elsewhere

No ill will towards the boy whatsoever. He has lived his dream in playing and contributing to his boyhood club. He goes with my blessing and I sincerely hope he goes somewhere and absolutely kills it.

I actually don't think he's as bad as some make out and I think he could get a decent move down south, maybe to a Championship team and perform very well. Think he's far better on the ball than he's given credit for.

Good Luck to him, either way. If it's true that we are recalling Murray from his loan at Queens Park, that speaks volumes on how well he has progressed while on loan. So, delighted to see that we have another youngster coming through that can potentially make a contribution to the squad, in years to come.

KV Mechelen have made a loan offer for Celtic centre-back Stephen Welsh.

The Belgian Pro League side want the 24-year-old to join in the January transfer window, until the end of the season.

It’s understood Welsh is keen to get regular first team football and The Hoops are willing to listen to offers next month.

Sky Sports News revealed in August that KV Mechelen had a bid rejected for Welsh by Celtic in the summer transfer window

Stephen Welsh, he might be on his way out in January. Is there anything you can say about that?

Nothing to add to that. Stephen again, very much being a part of the furniture here, a great member of our squad. Naturally, we will have some players in our squad that will want to play games. And Steven may well be one of those players.

But he's a brilliant servant for this club. What he gives, the likes of him and Tony (Ralston) plays a little bit more than what Steven does. But these guys are still absolutely critical to the culture of this club.

But of course, there's sometimes they then have to think about themselves, and they've got to think about their careers. So I'm pretty sure there'll be some movement with some players looking to get game time and play. We all respect that
