Lenny can want him all they want, you would have to assume that, if we were letting him go, he would have far bigger and better suitors than Rapid Bucharest. Italian teams will no doubt be watching him right now.

I disagree. He's not garbage. He had a very poor game on Saturday and was rightly criticised for it.

I still like him and I think there will be better suitors out there for him if we do decide to move him on.

 

Stephen Welsh is attracting major interest from Major League Soccer and the English Championship.

Several clubs have already registered an interest in the 24-year-old who has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ four main central defenders this season. There was interest in Welsh from America and south of the border in the last two windows and that remains the case

Rodgers made it clear that he wanted him to remain at Celtic but clubs could now try their luck this summer to see if the situation is about to change. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales nailed down the two centre halve positions for the majority of the season. Welsh did start last weekend against St Mirren before he came off with a shoulder injury. Record Sport revealed that the issue is not as bad as first feared and the defender is expected to return to training ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup final with Rangers

Welsh signed a new deal earlier this season and currently has a deal until the summer of 2027. But it remains to be seen if interest from elsewhere could lure the club to part ways – which could be the case particularly if Rodgers sees the potential to improve on his centre-back squad options

 

MLS would be a great move for him.

 

Apparently Neil Lennon has put the feelers out about Welsh moving to his new club, Rapid Bucharest.

The thinjg is, for Europe we do require a certain number of homegrown players in addition to Scottish quota and Welsh ticks the boxes on both of those, so unless BR has some coming through at the academy such as Kelly or Vata that we can a) keep & b) are ready to step up...

 

Fair enough mate, ive never rated him tbh, never been a time where ive looked at him and thought he was good. He came in however before and played his part at a time when we were in need but was never good imo. I think hes garbage tbh. Gets bullied, gets caught out, not great in the air and besides that is made of glass. think if we could get 1-2million for him take it

 

I agree with you. Think it might be an really good move for him. We do seem to have interest in him so hopefully a deal gets done for him to move on this summer. Best for his career I think.

What's the point of a loan? Either sell him or keep him for depth. If he's gone, we should definitely target McKenna for the CL quotas.

 

Said before that I think he gets a hard time in here at times but probably best that he does move on.

I would be getting rid of a couple of other centre backs before him though. Kobayashi and Lagerbielke should be punted before him. He at least adds to our quota for Europe.
