    That's because his contract with Cardiff had finished, and it's pretty common for out of contract players to get bigger signing-on fees.

    Could happen with Fletcher if Sunderland are letting him go for a knockdown fee.

    Would anybody question signing him for 3m on 25k a week (apart from the moral issues of anyone earning it), so if we get him for 2 and pay him 1m up front what's the difference?

    I can't believe how much people are rating Fletcher so highly on here. Dude hasn't scored many goals in nearly three seasons, is injury prone and can't get a regular start for Sunderland yet some want to basically make him our highest paid player. Why? He can link up play well? The guy is a shadow of is former self. Not what we need at all. Some just like a name and a past reputation I think.
