You will never be able to slate him for effort and determination and for that he is one of my favourite current Celtic players.

I personally think he should be played further up the park but that's just me.

Thought he was a bit better when Kayal came on as he had more licence to get forward.

His passing can be abysmal at times still though. Really needs to work on it.

Can't believe people are trying to make excuses for him, he's showed absolutely zero all season. Bewildered as to why he hasn't been dropped at all.

I thought he was good tonight, was pressing for the full 90 minutes constantly chasing people down and forcing mistakes.

I think there's a good player there but the current system doesn't suit him at all.

i am not a real fan, however I caught a glimpse of why Deila prefers him in the team tonight, Johansen is perpetual motion on legs and he runs himself into the ground pressing and closing down, compare that with Commons who can't seem to last the ninety minutes anymore, and we might see the reason.

If that's the case we should sign Mo Farah, he'll run around all night for sure.

    I take your point :smiley-laughing002:
Still I like to be fair, Johansen has the same motor that Brown has got, and that is a lot of energy in the middle of the park, he also reminds me a bit of Kevin Thomson who played with Broony at Hibs, similar sort of style.

He can be brilliant one moment * the next like tonight

Brilliant bursting run right through the middle then controlled the ball on his face and fell over his feet.

Done decent tracking back from the corner only to run out wide to a man already marked leaving an unmarked man in the middle of the box

    Total brainfarts

    Hot or cold, currently freezing.

He was awful tonight, as he has been in a few games recently, becoming a liability. I'd have anyone in there before him, Biton, Kayal, Mulgrew etc. The worst part was when he subbed Commons n brought on Kayal.

I agree with others though, there certainly is a player in there and I think Ronny is playing him to keep his confidence up, let him make mistakes and learn, fair play, but he needs to learn quick with this club.

Taking off Commons for Kayal was 100% the correct sub. We were being totally overrun in the middle of the park, and it made sense to take off a more attack minded player for.

He's not been as good as he was earlier in the season, but I don't think he's been as bad as some folk make out tbh.

100%? Commons plays the advanced CM role better than anyone at the club. I don't have a problem with shoring up the midfield, great decision. I'd rather he took off Johansen and put Commons in where Johansen played, in that slightly more forward CM role. I see more chance of Commons giving us that killer pass or long range effort to kill the game we were looking for. :50:

I don't think he has been good at any point this season to be honest mate. Not consistently good anyway, maybe in spells in games, but that's been it.

I'm actually perplexed at some of the comments. He looked more of an attacking threat last season but that was because he was being played further up the park.

I think he's made himself a crucial part of our team already, he is also the main cog in Norway's midfield as well.
