The only reason I can think of is because Brown and Kayal are both better on the right of a CM pairing, I don't think they work that well together as they both want to occupy the same space. And with Mulgrew (thankfully) out the midfield picture that leaves Johansen or Bitton for the left side. I think dropping Johansen for Bitton would be a better bet. I wasn't impressed with what I had seen of Johansen before, but he actually seems to have got worse, instead of improving. Time to give someone else a shot.

As the above poster says it probably gives us better balance.

Deila is always talking about training, fitness, self improvement etc so maybe Johansen just trains like *?

think hes been suffering like the rest of the team with all the changes

kayal i like but he's a bit one paced i think johansen gives us more allround ability in the midfield
biton has yet to prove he's got what it takes to be a celtic regular

so dont see the two israelis giving us anything better than what johansen is giving us and they arent going to remove brown from the team

So will mulgrew slot back in instead of this guy as he was the main man in Browns absence?

Thought Johansson was mint before Delia came in, which is very odd as they have worked together before. Soooo, what the * is wrong? He certainly is not the same player from last year... Personally I think it's the formation, it should suit him as he has excelled there bbefore however I don't think it suits our other players and that's thrown everything off.

I really despise our current formation, too much workload on our midfielders and it's seriously harming us.

I think he needs dropped, if players can continue to have bad games and keep playing then I am worried about how Delia is seeing the game.

We have Kayal, Biton and Henderson who we can slot in and deserve a chance imo.

I'd dropp him, bitton needs a run in the team and kayal has been back playing well.

I think he should be tried out in the wanyama role , and less as an attacking midfielder , if he sits deeper he gets more room to play in and pick a pass which I feel he is pretty decent at along with mullgrew , they are both good at long distance passing , both * in tight situations , Johanssen more mobile than mullgrew though and fitter .

I don't feel he offers any cover to the back 4, so that's the last place I'd want him. He's too easily shrugged off the ball and his short passing game, especially when we're under pressure, is diabolical. Personally I'd want him in a more advanced role so he's as far away from our defence as possible. Or on the bench.

The guy knows he wont be dropped because he put a good word in for Ronny to get the job in the first place and is safe in the knowledge despite his form he'll still be a first team player. He's nothing like the player he was last year under Lenny and him and McGregor now appear to be Ronny's undroppables and they seem to know it, which is now showing in their performances.

I honestly think that people talk a lot of nonsense about managers having players that they won't drop. It's not entirely inconceivable that Johansen is our best option in that position at this time even in his current form.

Whenever Kayal has played this season, he has outperformed Johansen.

Ok if he suits the balance of the team thats fine but not when it's detrimental to us, right now and for the majority he has..
Kayal, Biton, Henderson are all righties but i think all would have done much more in johansens role with the game time he's had this season.. Kayal already has in probably a third or less game time..

Play your best players on form, not because they have a left foot in a certain position..

But he has always played on the right side rather than the left hasn't he?

I agree he has played well but there must be some facet of his play that Ronny doesn't like.
