I like him and want him to do well.

But he's been absolutely shocking in the qualifiers.

    Brilliant last week, abysmal tonight.

Really can't work this guy out, sometimes he looks great, sometimes very poor. Really needs to improve his consistency because he has potential. Something is just not clicking though and it's infuriating to watch.

    Must improve

    * knows what to make of this guy, he seemed decent enough last season but Ive noticed some cracks appearing recently and tonight his passing was beyond *.

I thought his work rate was absolutely incredible. Passing not at his best but in terms of effort he was head and shoulders above every other player on the park.

If we had 10 of him we wouldn't be out the Champions League.

    This.

Once the team is setted and everybody knows what they are doing, Johansen will be excellent.

Doesn't have it at this level. Decent in the league, but just not good enough for Europe.

Work rate and running your * off closing down the goalkeeper etc is all good and nice to see as a fan but when you're not up to it technically, i.e. Passing, first touch, movement then it's not much use as when you do get the ball, you're * and these crucial skills are even further depleted.

Really! Its amazing what qualifies as incredible these days...

To quote an earlier poster, he could not lace Ledleys boots.

Are you trying to say he isn't a gifted footballer? If so, I couldn't possibly disagree more.

Folk rave about Brown's drive from midfield, Johansen does more running yet can pass further than 2 yards.

Completely different players, Ledley isn't capable of the type of pass Johansen played for our goal in Slovenia as an example yet Johansen hasn't shown he can be a match winner in big games.

    No point comparing them.

He is decent but nowhere near as gifted or good as folk want to believe. He isn't anywhere good enough for this level anyway.

A few folk talking about his wonderful range of passing, why then with time and space to move forward with the ball and find someone, does he persist in knocking the ball back to defenders/goalkeeper to hoof the ball upfield? Doesn't cut it for me, but he's not alone.

Based on what? 2 ties against teams that now have better squads than Celtic because all we do is sell our best players and replace them with cheap options?

I would have Johansen in my team against any opposition, he is not the problem just now but the lack of quality around him is.

Scott Brown's passing is awful, however Johansen is sloppy too, ffs, Ambrose of all people got him out of jail tonight temporarily with a woeful pass.

As for last week, * that, 2 mad moments.

Like saying Ambrose had a good game apart from the 5 * ups (maybe I'm being a bit generous with the 5).

That sums up pretty much the whole team.

Ledley played a perfectly weighted pass for Samaras at ibrox which is comparable to anything Johansen has shown until this point.

If we want someone to run about all night we could sign Mo Farah.

It took me a long time to really take to Scott Brown but he offers more than work rate, he offers drive, determination and bite. Johansen is very lightweight as was shown tonight and took zero responsibility with the ball constantly passing it back to the defenders.

People keep saying "this level" but Legia and Maribor arent quality teams, not all games in Europe mean you're playing quality sides and need great players to win.

    Yes, let's sign Mo Farah.

At this point they have comparable squads to Celtic, we have slept walked into a consistent dilution of quality for several years.
