United fans had all the same threats, closing stands, losing the safety cert, getting fined by the LA, nothing happened, other than a few fan on steward slaps, and they are still standing.

FC United fans are in unreserved seating, ie 2000 can go in a 2500 seated stand, and are allowed to stand

Could Parkhead handle a change if required ,If they got the go ahead to put in a standing area would the Structure take this ,i have my doubts ,it cost 30-35 million to build this Stadium and yes it does look the part but could it take the extra stress of say another 10,000 fans .

It would have to be looked at by Structural Enginners for * knows how long ,the plans would have to be looked at and at the end of that i bet there would be a massive bill for this upgrade .

If Celtic are asking fans not to stand due to a H&S issue...can I ask the Board to fix my seat which has come away from the bolts that are meant to be in the concrete? Thanks!!!

I do not really have a problem with the standing issue , i can see why it could easily become 1 big problem .

we have to remember there are kids that go to games and some times with people standing these kids can not see the action.

on the same lines as that issue there is also a older generation of fans that have been going to games longer than some of these young new generation tanked up on booze going to the games .

now my main problem with this is when you see one of the older generation asking the young ones to sit down as they can not see and being told to * off .

As people have already posted here its not as easy as Celtic being able to just wave a magic wand and us having a standing section .

    Pathetic and depressing.

But its not been about the fans for a long time so who's really suprised.

You'd swear Celtic are the first club to ever issue a safety statement.

If something bad happened because of this persistent standing, you'd probably have a go at Celtic for not providing a safe environment for fans.

to me this is just an insult. after last years season coming away without any silverware at all, and right now we are in jeopardy of losing the title AGAIN... and we have attendance problems and the support in general has been generally silent except for a few which we all know who they are. now they tell us that those who do want to stand and sing and really support the bhoys are to sit back down????? the true supporters who are singing for 90 minutes? fucksake its an insult!

Hmm.. Why is everyone bashing each other? especially mods bashing on standard members this is exactly the reason the support cant be taken seriously.

I pay for my season ticket its my seat im gonna stand at my pod if i want i buy my ticket pay there wages to be told not to stand and support my team its an absolute shambles but once again the celtic support ( the majority) are going to sit and take it like they take it any other time lets face it if you can go and talk about prawn sandwiches and not cheer on your team what chance do you have of standing up to the club!

And as someone has already mentioned the famous quote from big jock !

'' Football is nothing without fans ''

Dont like my post? Dont txt me cheerz x

This is further than almost anything that goes on even in the lawsuit-happy United States. Not even we are forced to sit down throughout a match in between free t-shirt giveaways for all the annoying kids. The guy has a point, this might be going too far.

Where the seats are in front, could they not replace the bit where they are bolted on with the sort of fence they used to have where people standing could lean against, which prevents them from falling. I understand that there would be some sort of financial aspect in doing so.

This is my first season going to the away games and standing. I believe there is a better atmosphere and I prefer standing as oppose to sitting. I look over to the green brigade at home games and wish that I could stand too at CP. I just can't get used to sitting during home games. It doesn't help when I hear about, and see pictures of the old jungle.

If a petition went out to fans, they could contact the SFA, SPL, Celtic, and their local MP, and get safe standing looked at. It may also help if contact was made with other clubs fan groups, and they do the same. Although talking to the dark side is the last anyone would want to do, I do know a few of their fans who are disgruntled at the general atmosphere/sitting. There is grounds for general support on the matter. Get round a table and get talks started.
