They will be seeing what designs and costs are for doing the main stand, it's the perfect time to do it only thing am worried about is we would only sell out a handful of games every season, could also be a move for us to host finals and other events.

There was the rumour the other week about a Saudi group wanting naming rights of the stadium and redevelopment would be part of the deal.

 

Hope this happens, something appeals to me about having the biggest/second biggest stadium in the U.K.

 

For me theres nothing really wrong with the stadium but I think it could do with being spruced up a bit. Things like the restricted views etc need sorting out. Facilities/catering in general could be improved and this would be a good time to do it. Always wanted to the stadium to be a complete bowl all the way around and bumped up to 67,000 .

 

Last time it was talked about (phil mac a month or so?) i am sure someone on here worked it out that even just meeting the current st wait lisy and selling out champ league games would make the money back in just under 10 years or something. It wouldnt be wasted anyway.

And if a saudi wants to come in and name it for 10 years and pay us to develop the south stand and still give us a few million a season in sponsor deal then bring it on.

Would love to see the roof support main beams all wrapped with green an white hoops or painted that way , it would make a big difference , maybe more lighting inside also .

 

On a side note we're probably due a Euro final soon. Capacity, outside and surroundings being fantastically done up..

When you look at Stockholm having the Europa and holding less than us this year also..

 

Oh aye am all for it mate, this plus the hotel & museum we would be very self sufficient while getting a nice profit from CL and player sales. Rodgers also laying foundations with a better academy and facilities, higher standard of coaching from a young age with better scouts, exciting times.

 

It's the makeup of the old mainstand though, it doesn't live up to the rest of the stadium. The tunnel area etc isn't big enough and means we don't have the 5* status to host a big final.

So we won't get one as it stands just now.

 

I remember the dressing room's being a reason before if I'm remembering right? Pretty petty reason's the tunnel being too narrow

Pretty sure the 5* rating system was scrapped years ago, Celtic Park is in the top category for UEFA stadiums now - the size of the media room was always a major stumbling block was it not hence the big gazebo at the front during champions league games

 

Just checked they've changed the it to categorie 1,2,3 and 4 but Celtic park isn't in the top category even though Hampden is

 

Exactly we had years under O'Neill where the place was full every other week, then we go to the other extreme under Deila, the core base of our fans is around 40k for me.
