I don't see whats so bad about it, everyone would still see it as Celtic Park. If we are to progress the way the support expects then we need more income and this is one way of doing it.

Me. Arsenal left their home which was lively and had history and left it for a sterile stadium with no atmosphere at all to cater for the prawn sandwhich brigade. The day Celtic sells her soul is the day I become a Hibs fan. As they say in Catalunya, Mes Que Un Club

tbh, I always call it Parkhead even though it's called Celtic Park.

I don't think there's anything so bad about it unless it's something totally ridiculous. If it generates revenue, I could live with a stadium called Celtic Park BP Stadium or something like that.

Obviusly not the 'Dalzell's Prime Meats and Sausages Arena', but as long as the Celtic part is kept and the insert is discrete and it generates a good deal of revenue, I really don't see it as blasphemy. It's about weighing up the pros and cons.

Fans'll still call it what they want, and again, it depends if the revenue generated is really worth it. It's not as if the new strip would be changed to a Ronald McDonald costume or anything.

I'd really only be against a dumb name like Newcastle's. As I said, it's weighing up the pros and cons.

realistically what would the issue be? on the tele they would have to say nike park or the 02 celtic stadium or some pish but if it payed for a good player would anyone be fussed. its not as if its a new stadium where that would be the name of it as thats what it had always been known as, its been celtic park for over a hundred years and would be commonly known as that regardless of the official title.

    Likewise.

I can't see a big problem with this, if was to be proved true.

a name on the outside of a building that some dumplings would pay millions to have is the most ridiculous and easy way for any football club to make money

Celtic Park will always be Celtic Park to every single Celtic fan, so does it really matter if there is someone gullible enough to pay millions to put their name on the side of some steel and concrete?

Whoring yourself is allowing Nike to bring out 2 or 3 new strips every season which exploits the fans to the extreme. Selling some signage to someone exploits no one but them. We call it Celtic Park end of.

    ps Park Heid - LOL

UCL teams are suppose to have 3 strips, its regulation for the competition. I dont see anyway around this. Do you think Nike was going to hand us €25m over 5 years and not try to exploit their investment.

The branding of St. James's is widely regarded as tacky and devalues the club and gives the perception of desperation for money. New stadium, I would agree but the smell of desperation of selling the naming rights now would be noticed all around Europe and do more damage than good when it comes to attracting footballers to the SPL.

Why dont we just add more sponsors to the jersey while we are at it??

But I think there IS a certain desperation for money in amounts that can bring better players. I think that's a fairly well-established fact that's difficult to argue with.

I think it has the potential to be tacky - yes, that's undeniable, but that is something that I would deem appropriate to have fan consultation on.

In this sense, it might not be damaging in the short term, but in the long term, everyone might be at it, and again out-compete us.

In the short term, and given certain guarantees that it won't end up as the Dunkin Donuts Dome, I'd be happy enough to see an injection of much-needed cash. I think it would serve the goal of bringing in some better quality players.

Like Formula 1?:56: I think we might need to improve the speed of a few of the squad there!

If the money was used to invest in the team I wouldn't have a problem with it, on the condition that the name wasn't something stupid.

I'd prefer it if we didn't have to do it but with the severe lack of finance available and ticket sales falling then it might be the only realistic way of generating revenue that is still available to us.

As said above I call it Parkhead anyway not Celtic Park.

Just because small clubs pimp themselves for income doesnt mean that we should do the same on a bigger scale. We should have more self respect than that.

I think the SPL as a product is where vast improvements can/should be made rather than going down the route of sticking more sponsors onto the club. Improve the value of the product, the more our current sponsors will give to remain in partnership.

That would be the ideal situation but while those that are in charge remain stuck in the prehistoric era no substantial changes will be made which is why we simply have to look at alternative forms of generating income.

I don't think any company would offer us 5million per year for 5 years, but if they did we could use that money to invest in the team while still pushing for changes to the SPL - if at the end of the 5 years sufficient improvements have been made to the league then great we don't need to renew.

it wouldnt really bother me TBH i usually call it parkhead anyway as do most and if within 5 years it helped us to get a few decent players theni think its a good idea

especially now that the champion of the SPL will not go straight into the group stage of the CL there is even more of a chance we wont get there

If the money generated from the stadium name was invested in the first team squad then I would have no problem with that as it will always be Celtic park to me .

Personally I would not have a problem with this if it generated cash to spend on the squad , would still be Celtic Park to me .

When people mention Arsenal or Bayern, they have brand new stadia with no history - there wouldn't have been a chance that Highbury would have been renamed. The issue here is that Celtic Park has always been called Celtic Park so different issues arise. I personally couldn't see the Nou Camp, Bernabeu or Old Trafford taking a corporate name just to increase revenue so why should we? It simply looks as if we are trying to buy success rather than having the so called morals this club is founded on - even Rangers aren't going to sell their stadium rights and they have no money to speak of!
