Another one is the size of the dressing rooms.

Basically, the south stand is not up to scratch and it needs a serious overhaul

Lawwell said last year that we will extend the main stand by 8,000. so the capacity would be around 69,000. but the cost-benefit was not so good at the time. i guess its not now either. also, i heard that Ibrox had extension plans in the works, so we will be influenced by that. because we can't have them having a bigger stadium than us now can we?

As I've been saying, Commonwealth games will have alot of grant money flying around Glasgow from the EU and Government, the actual cost to Celtic could become * all and Lawwell knows this all too well. He's a smart guy, I trust his judgement on the issue.

season ticket sales would increase. the reason everyone doesn't get season tickets is because of the myth that is the waiting list. Everyone belives that t is too much hassle and that they won't get one so they don;t bother. if the stadium capacity increased then this would encourage more people to buy season tickets.

I think really pushing the boat out with a big name signing around the same time as the tickets go on sale would be great publicity to help us sell the new season tickets.

Unfortunately, the EU play no part in the Commonwealth games, there will be no funding from them apart from to create building jobs etc., and the UK government is funding very little, most of the money is coming from the Scottish Government, Sport Scotland and Glasgow City Council, very little of which is going to Celtic Park for an opening ceremony, (by very little, I mean enough to put flowerpots in the surrounding streets and places to accommodate more journos in the stadium, gay stuff like that)

There will be increased transport in the area, but that will be because of the athletes village and new indoor running/cycling area just across from CP.
My cousin works for Sports Scotland and told me all this * a few months age lol....

Thats because some people stop paying, for whatever reason and get them repossed and a lot of fans are unsure if they can just phone up and get one because of this waiting list pish.

Although we may sell the season books we still dont fill the stadium in all games of the season apart from CL and Huns.......so it reflects bad around when you see loads of empty seats and the atmosphere is poor. I think it would be a good idea though provided people went to the games more and not just the big ones :50:

I dont think empty seats in a huge stadium paints a bad picture of the club. How offten to Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC, Man United etc full there stadiums? usualy just derbys and later stages of the CL, less offten than us. I dont think people think poorly of those clubs for not selling a full house every game.

if people are honest with themselves on here and elsewere, gordon strachan came into it ,simply cos peole didnt like him or like what they were watching ,im not saying that accounts for all the empties but it did count ,im not one of them ,but i do know folk who said they wouldnt set foot back in parkhead while strachan was still there, but all of a sudden there buying there tickets again ,sad really ,but i do think there wont be too many games next season with a lot of empties , and im not turning this into a GS thread ,but it did account for some empties

Not sure if this has been mentioned but it was proven in another thread that WGS made no difference to average season attendance and if there was a difference it was due to extenuating circumstances.

Exactly, remember when we played Milan away in the group stages. Hardly any of their fans turned up, yes they were already through but a bit of supporting wouldn't of went a miss.

I really think celtic ought to do something to upgrade the old stand as it is a bit of an eyesore now celtic park would look amazing if it was the same height all the way round , plus with the changing rooms getting done up we would be a 5 star stadium witch would attract european finals and the atmosphere will be awsome.
