He was brilliant that day and although it was a friendly, Real Madrid put out a strong team and he took his man on with ease at times. I think even Mourinho commented on his performance. Was a terrible injury too, he got knocked out cold.

I think one of the reasons we haven't seen him progress is he's a naturally lightweight skilful player and Lennon really wanted to concentrate on strength and physicality which can stifle a player such as Mcgeough. He's definitely got something in his locker no-one else in the team has; the ability to take it past a couple of players and create freedom for his team-mates, like the new version of mcgeady essentially.

For those that missed the game, the full-frontal, slow-motion replay of the streaker being chased by stewards can only be described as "epic". Honestly one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

Just imagine that scene from Chariots of fire, but with the guy at the front stark * naked and all the others dressed as stewards.



All that was missing was the music from Vangelis.

Was watching the game with my 2 year old son even he laughed at the naked man easily the funniest thing I have seen this pre-season it was just the fact the cameras made no effort to pan away from him and continued to focus on him

 

Not only that. It's the way they zoomed right in on him and played it back in slow motion, with his wee man flapping away joyfully in the wind! Television gold.

I agree with people saying we shouldn't be too down on the kids for one OK'ish erformance against good opposition, but I just don't think Balde's a player. I really wanted him to make it too.
