Looking at players? He should already have a catalogue of players that suit his style.

It should be as simple as him passing these on to scouting for approval followed by Lawwell sanctioning a budget for the player.

    What happens instead? Who knows.

What we do know is Berget, is a waste of space. I haven't met one person impressed with this signing. If he's a project, he should have never started in Europe!

I can't for the life of me understand the boards logic. I'm no business man but even I understand you need to spend money to make money.

Spend money on players qualify for champions league = £
New players means means we can move some players on = £
In the future these new players may prove to be stars such as Wanyama, Ledely, Van Dijk and can be sold on for = ££££.

Nobody is asking sevco style splurging, surely a couple do sensible signings make economical sense for the board.

This Celtic board lack ambition and have for many years now, what I think that they don't remember is that football is an entertainment industry and if you do not provide entertainment then your business will fail. We have seen the crowds dropping like a stone over recent years and the only way the board can stabilise the attendances is by investing in the first team and in doing so creating an attractive product that will sell season tickets. Investment in the first team also provides you with a better chance of going deep I'm Europe, Celtic simply must reach the group stages of the champions league and hope to finish 3rd in the group that is best case scenario for the fans and financially for the board. Players like Wanyama and Hooper have not been replaced properly, signings like Pukki and Balde have yet to show they are up to the task. The board must realise that Celtic fans are not being unreasonable we aren't asking for a £12 million replacement for Wanyama or a £6 million replacement for Hooper we are asking to spend half of that money on a young player with a similar level of quality who in three years might sell for £15 million then you reinvest half of that. That is the only way Celtic can grow as a clubs while they are stuck in such a low quality league.

It's a disgrace that we haven't been more active in this window, but if ever there was a wake-up call it is NOW. We've been dealt a huge slice of luck and this must be used as an opportunity to right the wrongs and strengthen. We will be even more of a laughing stock if we do nothing and then get pumped off Maribor. The best way to silence the critics is to invest, build a good team and do our talking on the park, like we should have been from the start.

The board have starved the first team investment for so long that they really do need to spend £15-£20 million in my opinion. The team requires a centre back to replace or provide cover for Ambrose, a left back to compete with izzy, two wide players with acceptable end product and a striker wouldn't go amiss particularly a target man or a player similar to Hartson or Sutton that kind of profile. Shifting on Stokes, Balde and perhaps Boerrigter in the process.

We won't spend that much I don't think, although I'd say at least £10m investment is needed with some players going out. Interesting to see who we bring in with Deila saying they are working hard on targets, where have we heard that one before eh..

They simply have to loosen the purse strings now..

2 matches away against a beatable for a massive injection of cash, speculate to accumulate is precisely where we are now..

We can't risk a * up of the last weeks proportions,.massive second chance..

One thing is for sure, whoever we bring in is unlikely to be linked to us in the press prior. Probably someone we would never have heard rumoured.

if we beat maribor thats 20 million we should never have had in any case, the lot should be used to rebuild the team, there is no excuse for Lawwell and Co now, this is a * lottery win here

ps Bring Hooper and Boruc home

Don't agree with this tbh, im sure ronny wasn't a scout at Stromgodset and any players he / they looked at would be to fit into their style and their budget.
Im certain we have a bigger and further reaching scouting network than Stromgodset, and would be looking for better quality players. id imagine ronny would sit down with john park and ask for a list of players that might fit his style and for him to have a look at them along with him suggesting a couple of players to check out, so no I don't think its a case of handing a list to then scouts then on to PL.

We know absolutely nothing of Berget either, a couple of youtube videos and a 70 minute appearance in warsaw, I agree that he shouldn't have started but I think its far to early to say hes a waste of space

Berget would be a useful ear to have in the dressing room for a new manager too , Important to have your own around as well to help .

We are clearly not good enough now, so we just go into the game after the pumping we got with the same players? Madness.

i think we're slating our players as * and thats not the case imo

we were killed in that 1st game and a a lot of that was down to one player and a naive formation

the 2nd game against legia we were again bad but we were so far behind in the aggregate that the players looked beaten already i.e. lacked confidence

now i think big charlie should be dropped from the team, we should go with the 2 israeli's and johannsen

ambrose will be back we need at least one centre back brought in preferably 2 with some pace as VVD will be sold

im not impressed with the strikers though and our squad is big is big derk gonna get played or is he surplus

'IF' we get hammered over the 2 legs as we did with Legia, Deila should be sacked there and then, hes just had a massive get out of jail free card and should use it wisely, id be banging on Lawwells door saying money now * and a lot of it

This is utter pash lol 13 June 2013 last year to 31 January 2014 lennon spent over 10 million on players.

Plus we still have a few weeks left of this transfer window and i am sure Ronny will spend,so its 11+ odd million + what Ronny spends.
By the end of the season i am sure we will have matched what Oneil was spending on players ....yet we have nowhere near as good a team as Martin did,I actually think this was the reason he left because he was told the spending was going to be cut back and i dont think PL totally trusted him with the money .

Amido Baldé Portugal Vitória Guimarães £1.8 million
Virgil van Dijk Netherlands FC Groningen £2.6 million
Derk Boerrigter Netherlands Ajax £1 million
Nir Biton Israel F.C. Ashdod £700,000
Teemu Pukki Germany FC Schalke 04 £2.4 million
Hólmbert Friðjónsson Iceland Fram Reykjavík £100,000 Stefan Johansen Norway Strømsgodset £2 million Leigh Griffith Wolverhampton Wanderers £1 million

I doubt anyone rates Mulgrew anymore after these performances and I agree with you, I'm just annoyed it's taken folk so long to wake up and realise how utterly dreadful he is. He is a Falkirk/Ross County standard player and he not only plays with us but he is currently captaining us which is one of the biggest reasons why we are so pish currently. Celtic shouldn't be playing with that sort of standard of player consistantly and it's a disgrace and needs sorted or he'll cost us this tie like he did Legia. If Ronny hasn't realised by now he's not a midfielder I doubt he ever will, action must be taken and fast.

Also, he isn't even worthy to be on your avatar anymore, the guy almost single handedly practically cost us CL football this season which would have meant we would have missed out on millions all because of such a poor player. It maddens me greatly that he plays for us. It's time to go, now.
