It did take an absolute eternity for the ref to send the lad off. In fact at first I thought he was going to book Hooper for diving and I think Hooper thought that was what was happening as well at first. He must have got a shout from the ref behind the goal but really he should have got the call right away himself it was a clear foul and straight red card.

Did anyone else think Mulgrew and Commons were quite poor tonight ?

Yeah, it was never his call, you can see him letting play on like nothing happened and then turn around, when he obviously got a shout from one of the assistants, ridiculous as it was as blatant a foul as you're likely to see.

as it stands, Bhoys can enjoy the games against Barca then take 4 off Benfica and Spartak no bother :ynwacelti

Mulgrew was poor first half, though he had a good second half though. Played the ball through to Hooper which led to the sending off, and played a good ball across for the second (albeit it was Hoopers assist). Commons was quiet, but played his part nonetheless

Thought he should have done much better for the second goal. Defenders instinct should be to follow the ball in, he let Eminike do it and didn't follow him.

Outside of that, outstanding. For such a big man he drops the shoulder beautifully.

I loved the players reaction at the final whistle tonight. Every one of them looked like they had lightening running through their veins.

If we can keep the positive vibe going for a good spell and hold onto our 'core' players through the next couple of transfer windows, then I see no reason why we can't kick-on towards another golden-period.

Perhaps nothing on the scale of Lisbon or Seville, but certainly the restoration of our credibility amongst Europe's big-guns!

    Mon the HOOOOOPS!!!!
