A Panamanian player has criticised Peru’s football authorities for doing nothing to stop racism in the country after he walked off the pitch during a top-flight game following abuse which he said was going unpunished.

The Juan Aurich striker, Luis Tejada, booted the ball into the stands and left the field after 70 minutes of Sunday’s game at Cienciano. “I couldn’t take it anymore and I only walked off after I kicked the ball away in protest and at the impotence I felt when I could see that no one was doing anything,” he said.

Tejada was booked for kicking the ball away while some Cienciano players appealed to their own fans for restraint. Tejada refused to return and Cienciano won 2-0.

“I leave this in the hands of the authorities so they can do something to end this racism,” Tejada wrote on his website. “We’re not advancing and it’s the same thing over and over. For how long?”

The incident was the second involving Tejada in five months. Last October he was taunted while playing for Club Deportivo Universidad César Vallejo against Sporting Cristal. The problem of racism in football has become a serious issue in South America in recent years, with authorities in Peru and Brazil among those being urged to crack down on discrimination.

How was De Arrascaeta? Seen he came off early-ish in the second half and Globo writes seemed unimpressed. Also disappointing to here they were playing long ball when he is such a technically gifted player. Maybe the pressure of having to be the creative force in one of continents biggest teams has got to him at this early stage.

Leandro Damião too, ugh. He was clearly signed from a commercial angle and I'd be surprised if Marcelo Oliveira really wanted him. Joel should be starting before him. The Oliveira signings look more like Joel, Pará and Eugenio Mena.

    Tonight predictions...

    San Lorenzo 1 x 1 Corinthians
    Internacional 2 x 2 Emelec

São Paulo x Corinthians on now, on Bet365 site. Corinthians just took the lead. Danilo with the volley but Rogério Ceni should have saved it. His reactions are pretty poor now.

Michel Bastos with the latest of late winners for São Paulo against San Lorenzo. San Lorenzo, the defending champions, have some serious work ahead of them if they want to make it out of the groups. Aleandre Pato injured himself again when putting in a cross for Michel Bastos in the 18th minute. They guy has no luck which is a shame.

São Paulo torcedors put on a big welcome. A least this time the police didn't feel the need to kill everyone with a flair like they did when Internacional torcedors did this a few weeks ago.

Internacional got a very impressive draw away to Emelec. Bolaños had his first bad game in this Libertadores, while Emelec had a man sent off which obviously hurt them. Inter played away in a old school atmosphere, with fans even throwing thing at them. Eduardo Sasha, who was playing up front for Inter picked stuff up and threw it back at them :smiley-laughing002:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7wAqcsxbNs[/ame]

The Emelec keeper, Esteban Dreer didn't hold back either. He channelled his inner Toni Schumacher and tried to kill Eduardo Sasha. Only a yellow :smiley-laughing002:

Atlético MG excelled at playing the current Brazilian model of play. Very tactical and good at breaking up play. Topped it with a winning goal from a corner. A 1 x 0 win away to Sante Fe is hugely important for them after a terrible start. Goalkeeper Victor became the record appearance maker in the Libertadores for Atlético MG.

River still haven't won a game which is shocking tbh. They dominated in the early part of the game and should have won the game there. The chances piled up and they can only blame themselves, to lose it in the 90th minute. Terrible defending from Camilo Mayada for the goal and a great finish from Marcos Delgado. Chiarini won't be happy about being beating on his near post.

With this draw Mexican side Tigres UANL go through.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7S2Sm3helc[/ame]

Palestino came back from one down to get a draw. They sit third, three points behind Montevideo Wanderers but are still in with a chance, be it a small one, of going through. They have Zamora of Venezuela next at home which they should win, before they travel to La Bombonera. They have to hope Boca Juniors win away to Wanderers (may be a close one), then they need Zamora (at home) to take something off of Wanderers (unlikely), all the while getting points at Boca.

What makes this even more unlikely is that Boca Juniors have now qualified for the next due to this draw.

Barcelona throw a spanner in Atlético Nacional's works. The Colombians have been one of the most impressive sides recently in South America under Juan Carlos Osorio. But maybe the good times are over and the sale of Edwin Cardona to Mexico has a lot to do with it I think. They have had terrible home form and now have a tough away game to Estudiantes. They need Barcelona to get points away to Libertad of Paraguay to have a chance of going through because I can't see them winning in La Plata.

Where Barcelona pulled this result from is a mystery. They have been terrible in the Libertadores up till now and mediocre in the league. Almost certainly too late for them.

And Cruzeiro finally scored a goal. They sit top of their group because everyone around them is so poor. Leandro Damião got a goal, his first Libertadores goal since a 2 x 1 away defeat to Fluminense in 2012.

Libertadores was back last night, with the group of death.

San Lorenzo won in their must win game against São Paulo. Both teams are on six points, with São Paulo ahead on goal difference. With the fixture run in, I think São Paulo will just make it, but it all comes down to what Corinthians do, they may go easy on San Lorenzo so that they put their rivals out.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRlquQikbJY[/ame]

Corinthians have made the group look easy and are now in the Last 16. Paolo Guerrero scored a hat-trick and Jadson scored a great free kick. Sadly there was another racist outburst, from Danubio defender Cristian González who called Elias a monkey.

In the last week Elias has played three games, in São Paulo, Paris and London, which is crazy travelling. 24 hours spent flying in that time. Souza, who played for São Paulo had to go even further as London to Buenos Aires is 14 hours by plane.

The Flamengo manager showed up to a press conference like this... :smiley-laughing002:

He is protesting against his two match suspension for criticising the Rio state league. He criticised the federation's decision to limit team squads in the state league, preventing the clubs from testing young players.

River hanging on by their finger nails. Rodrigo Mora's last minute goal keeps them in it but they still haven't won a game. They have to beat Bolivia's San José and hope Peru's Juan Aurich can't beat Tigres UANL at home.

Pressure is getting to them, as they have a nice argument at the end of the game.

Just seen Cruzeiro could've wrapped up qualification to the next round against Huracan but got beat 3-1 :smiley-laughing002:. They now play top of the group Sucre at home in the final round of fixtures.

Sucre on 9pts, Cruzeiro 8pts, Huracan 7pts and Mineros 1pt. You'd imagine Huracan will beat Mineros so it'll make it a very interesting game in Cruzeiro v Sucre. Sucre only conceded once so far in 5 games but only scored 4, Cruzeiro conceded 4 (3 to Huracan there) and scored 6. Could be quite a tight game looking at it so should be interesting!

I feel asleep after Leandro Damião's penalty and I think half the Cruzeiro team were just as tired. That was their third game in five days, with a derby against Atlético Mineiro only two days before, then a 1000 plus miles journey. Argentine police didn't let striker Joel into the country either :smiley-laughing002:

I thought Ábila was great up front by himself and the rediscovered Chilean Puch provided him with plenty of ammo. Their central mid-fielders controlled the game as well.

Still, here is a team that have only won two games in the (much diminished) league wiping the floor with the champions of Brazil. Even more embarrassing for Cruzeiro, playing in their fancy World Cup stadium is that they are second to Universitario Sucre. They turned up to their last game away to Bolívar and took to the pitch like this :56:

Tigres have saved River Plate here. Amazing game, Juan Aurich 3 x 4 Tigres and River 3 x 0 San José so a very lucky River right now.

    Still 15 minutes left.

Edit: Full time and its Juan Aurich 4 x 5 Tigres. That Tigres win puts River Plate through and because of the results that means a Boca Juniors x River Plate Superclásico is a very real possibility in the Last 16. Boca will be the top seed in the Last 16 if they beat Palestino and River will almost certainly be the lowest ranked team.
