Just finished Many Saints of Newark.

Utter pish. All over the place, literally nothing happens for 70 minutes and none of it made sense.

    Absolute horseshit.

Honestly man, one of the worst things I’ve seen and that’s removing the hype I built up around it.

It just doesn’t make sense. There’s no story and the ending just doesn’t mean anything. There’s no build up to what happens, apart from a couple of jokes but that’s not enough to justify what happens. Seriously utter dung.

I’m sure you will watch it just as I would if it was you saying this to me before I seen it.

Maybe going into with lower expectations might help elevate it to mediocre

Luckily Iv not bought into the hype around this film so I might actually enjoy it, you echo a lot of what I heard this morn, I normally find the more hype around a film the more disappointment proceeds

    Ahhh man....gutted to hear this.

Been waiting * ages to watch this to...was gonna sit in tonight with a few jars and a smoke.

    * it..ill watch it anyways.

Would it have been better if there was a full series of this spanned out? Telling more stories like the original? My mate seen it says it was good but it was 90 mins rushed.

Might have been better as a series aye mate. I just couldn’t get invested in the characters, the ending comes right out of left field with no real build up to what happens and so many things just felt forced and other plots just left half finished.

Definitely watch it though. Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t. I’ve seen plenty of people saying they enjoyed it. It just didn’t make any sense to me. There is a hilarious bit with Sil but I won’t say anymore for risk of spoiling it.

By the way. Musichq. Look it up on google. One of the best streaming sites I’ve seen in a long time. Not just for this but for literally any movie or TV show you can think of.

Might start watching Sopranos again just to cleanse myself of the movie :giggle1:

I think it will seem better upon a rewatch. But a 6 episode miniseries would’ve definitely been ideal. A lot of the plot points could’ve been delved into in more detail.

    So disappointing isn’t it?

I’ve been trying to convince myself that maybe Chase will do another movie and that might tie it all together but I’m just kidding myself on. There is no way the story could have a satisfying ending now anyway, not after that ludicrous ending.

black guys in the 1960s going into a Mafia controlled club and calling made guys wops, sleeping with made guys goomahs and trying to go to war with La Cosa Nostra and living to tell the tale was utterly ridiculous in the context of racial tensions at the time. I honestly have no idea what purpose that actually served at all

A rewatch? Why? It wasn’t that complex that a rewatch might shed more light on something you might have missed.

Personally I wouldn’t subject myself to it again.

I’m actually * off at how bad it was. Apart from a couple of fan service scenes and one or two light relief comedy bits, it had no redeeming features at all.

I went into it not expecting it to be like sopranos but separate I’m enjoying it and the nostalgia of certain characters and things you heard in the show not finished watching it but I hope the ending sets it up for a prequel set of series

Wasn’t mind blowing but I enjoyed it if you take out joe Pesci in Irishman I think it’s a lot better than that movie

You’ve got to be kidding? The Irishman was an epic.

Many Saints tried to be three different stories and failed on all of them.

See if the whole movie centred around the ending and built up the tensions between them then it could have been something quite special. Instead we got 70 minutes of something that went nowhere, somebody fell down somebody laughed and then the end happened.

as for Tony, where was his arc from high school kid to potential mafia boss? See if the movie centred around Dickie and Uncle Jun and a power struggle and Tony being influenced by them (as his two favourite uncles) it could have been very good. Instead we got a black guy taking on the mafia and living to tell the tale. Stupid. Junior killed Dickie because he laughed at him falling down the stairs. What the *?
