Tremendous programme, watched it over the Christmas period and was engrossed.
That ending though, I thought my tv was broke or something as I was watching it on a hard drive :smiley-laughing002: -

Don't keep reading this SPOILER ALERT.
We all agreed that Tony got whacked at the end? -
If you look at the ending as a whole, you had the wide shot of Tony then the bell on the door rings and the camera immediately goes to what is Tony's eyeline. This happens a few times every time showing what would be the view from Tony's eyes.
Then the last shot from what would be Tony's eyes before blackness and the music stops. To me that indicates he was shot.
Also when that guy got whacked in the restaurant in a previous episode next to Silvio and Sil says you don't hear it coming, so that explains why we didn't hear the shot in what was supposed to be through Tony's eyes.
Still disappointing ending though, I hate all that cryptic * where you "have to think for yourself" according to David Chase. I've just watched 84 episodes you *, I want my pay off, my ending.KRS-1888 likes this. -

I felt that way, just accepted it,and enjoy it for what it is now.
Watched it a few times since it's the best series ever imo. -
I wasn't sure at first, but after having watched the series through a few times I like it, the show's a masterpiece. Not sure of any other realistic way that it could have ended in all honesty.

Artistic ending but not the one we wanted. -
I read Directors explanation of final episode. Excellent read as he explained his thought process and how he built tension. (Choice of music, meadow parking the car etc)
I don't think he necessarily wanted the viewer to think Tony got whacked there and then but just to realise that it will happen sometime/eventually
Sensational acting thoughout by gandolfiniSgt Neppers* likes this. -
easily the best for me too, it has everything in it, and i love how you grow to love some people in it and hate others, hated that * richie aprile, hated him,
-
Loved Ralphie even though he was probably a bigger * than Richie as well. :smiley-laughing002: -
My favourite episode is still Pine Barrens, the one where Paulie and Christopher get lost in the woods after trying to whack the Russian.
some of the funniest * I've ever seen, genuinely belly laughed to the point of it being sore.Sgt Neppers* likes this. -

Janice, Richie and Ralphie are some of the most detestable characters ever, played really well.
Each to their own and all that, but it blows stuff like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead etc out the water in my opinion. They're not bad shows, but they're average in comparison.
