    * sake man. Another * downer of a thread. See if you think we could have signed someone better. Name them, then tell me how you know that we never made an approach.

Club is on our biggest * winning streak in years and all * can do is moan about how the club is going downhill. I don't even like Griffiths but I bet he'll score a * ton of goals and people will still * moan.

I'll wait and see what we do in the summer before getting annoyed.

That players we came close to signing in this window could have said they'll force a move to us in the summer.

The core of the current squad is still here though; Brown, Mulgrew, Commons, Forster, Forrest, Stokes, Samaras, Lustig, Matthews and Izaguirre.

I think more than a few of us reckoned that some of those names would also have been gone by now, especially Forster and perhaps Matthews and Forrest too, before both were struck down with serious injuries.

It's natural for players to move on. As much as we all wanted the likes of Hooper, Vic, Ledley and Wilson to stay, they obviously have ambitions outside of Scotland. Nothing lasts forever, but we'll remember the great contributions that each gave to the club.

quite happy with our signings, why the * should we buy a £6 million plus player? were in the spfl. not just the spfl the spfl which is now a one horse race. Give our youth a chance and see what they can do. Rather see that than some guy who comes in and rapes our wage bill and does * all. Were not them after all

Downsizing? How much did Johansen cost and how much did Wanyama cost?
It's not downsizing at all, we're just signing different players.

It's worrying because so far we've only managed to replace one of the players we've lost with a quality player(That's not to say the players we have signed won't come good, just as it stands). Say two or three of our players leave in the summer and we struggle to replace them again our Champions League qualification hopes could be in deep *.

As it stands right now, I think we need just one quality striker in during the coming summer transfer window in order to have a successful European campaign in the 2014/15 season. Of course, that could change if we end up losing more important players in the summer.

The squad we have right now is more than good enough to win the domestic trophies, but we still need that extra bit of quality up front if we manage to get to the group stages again next season.

By all means have a go at suggesting a replacement for Wanyama and who's to say Commons won't beat Hooper's goal tally this season. He won't be far off it.

Ye cannae just go out and buy clones of players. It takes time to find them in our price range.

The way i see it we sold Wilson and we got Van Dijk. Now some people might think of that as downsizing or that, but i think we got a much, much better player.

So sometimes we'll replace players with players that aren't as good, sometimes they'll be better. It just depends on a lot of random * that's outwith our control.

So far we've qualified twice, nothing's for certain, but we should be confident of finding a player or two in the Summer that can help us get there.

Did people really expect us to never lose anyone and all our signings to be gems....???
Its going to be up and down every * year, we will have good years and then some not so * good years.
This guy is more likely to stay with us long term than some high price striker from Europe.

Your point in the first paragraph is the reason I'm disappointed about the Griffiths buy.

I understand about the lack of challenge in the League. I understand about the lack of money vs other Clubs, but what many folks don't seem to grasp is that the Team we have now is the one that will play in the CL Qualifiers, which start a few weeks after the Windows opens/coincides with the end of the World Cup. There won't be time to buy players and if we don't qualify then Lawman isn't going to sanction buys and we can definitely say goodbye to Fraser,Efe, Virgil, and my be a few others.

We should have done our Summer buying now because by August it may be too late. Last year showed we can win our League blindfolded, playing on one leg, but when it comes to facing Kazaks or any Scandinavian Team, we struggle and we need players for that competition.

We should now be more concerned about an attacking midfielder that plays behind the strikers imo. If Commons is injured or goes out of form we have nobody to make things happen or spark the team into life.

Why would we spend more in the January transfer period where prices are raised for even the poorest of players? It's not like we're in Europe to play for. Better wait until Summer when we can get better value.

Sorry but it's difficult to take a thread seriously when the OP doesn't like a player because of his appearance.

Besides that, what planet do you think we live on? We play in a provincial league compared to most and punch well above our weight in Europe. The coaching staff have done a great job in signing players thus far, despite the odd dud, but who doesn't sign a bad one every now and then?

We've done good business this winter in my opinion. Or should we go broke & sign Zlatan or Falcao or Aguero? This might be your strategy on Football Manager but this is the real world. Any bollocks comeback about us being "rich" and needing to "splash out" is pish. The board have a fantastic financial record and have secured our club for years to come when others (not mentioning any names) have capitulated in front of us.

I'd rather we slumped into mid-table by not signing a "proven" striker that so many are slavering over (who is ever proven anyway until they've been here & done it?) than risk the future of our club.

    Grow up.

As an old * observing from a distance. The 100 grand Icelandic Bhoyo is gonna do the Biz for sure, trust me. Balde must be thinkin why the * did I come here? Tony Watt to me seems as raw a player just like all of us and our manager once was but got his chance to flourish. However for some reason hes at the wrong end of a North Sea Ferry.

Why does spending money equate to ruining the club? Spending money isnt a bad thing and debt isn't even a bad thing. Running up 100m on debt when you can't pay it back is a bad thing. It is a daft argument that wanting to see a club go forwards rather than backwards is foolish because we might go bust in the process.

People are talking about spending half the money we made on selling one player last year. That doesn't equate to risking the future of the club. Especially when a bit of extra spending now can make qualification for the champions league a whole lot easier as opposed to scraping by and assuming we can keep getting away with this while selling off our best players.

Finally, if you look at our European record over the last 5 or 6 years I don't think we are punching above our weight. We had one great season last year and we have failed to build on it. This year we scraped through against a kazak team. Next year we may not be so lucky with the draw and I really don't see us getting to the group stages.

    January = Prices higher

Summer = Same players lower price

January = League won/nothing to play for

Summer = Champions League and new season

    Simple economics.

Think Johansson might be the silver lining to this transfer window. With Joe going think he might get game time sooner.

I know we probably all wanted a bigger name striker but perhaps that will come in the summer.
