this season has stunk the place out ,but something i've noticed as the season progressed was the amount of players who have suffered a hamstring injury or knee injury, is their a new regime in what the players are being asked to do or why have we suddenly got a team full of glass bodies.
Discuss so whats changed in our fitness regime. in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.

It has been a rotten season for injuries though, especially with defenders. -

It's not uncommon around the end of the season, and can only be worse since we don't have regular reserve football to keep away the rust. You also have the likes of perma-injured Maloney, Hooiveld thrown in without a pre-season, O'Dea being forced to play with injuries ...

Actually I have read on a couple of occasions this season that TM was somewhat more relaxed in terms of fitness standards, compared with the strict & strenuous regime that existed under WGS. It could be just a co-incidence, something to do with the training pitches, the players fooling about or could simply be bad luck.
-
The indoor pitch has been shown to cause several players several "niggles and injuries" Dan Harris, also it has to be said that there is a new club doctor at the club too. i beleive something is not right at lennoxtown both medical department and possible sports science department

I don't think there's a coincidence. Hammies going and all that is down to the training that the players are put through. Small breaks and freak injuries are exactly that, freak injuries.
Apparently WGS was right hardcore with his fitness levels, particularly during pre-season, but the players loved it. Remember, he was the one that brought in that Aussie dude, the sports scientist person. TM was very relaxed with the fitness side of things. But you can see it on the pitch as well. Under WGS we could work our * for the full 90+ (look at how many games we had won in the last 5 mins plus injury time) but under TM we just looked shattered (look at how many games we LOST in the last 5 mins plus injury time) -
the only thing i can think of is that Celtic have had a sports scientist for the last 2 seasons for the first time. In this period we have seen Boruc and McDonald put on a shitload of weight, players lose pace (McGeady imo), many more injuries and the teams general fitness isn't what it should be. It may well be coincidence just merely pointing out the fact
-
Mcgeady has never been as fast as he is. I remember an old Thierry Henry covering half of the field to catch him on the break, he just has quick legs; it's an illusion.

gregory dupont left during last season and we've been downhill since, mowbray took a useless * in ben mackenzie here, go knows why

Hamstring and back injuries are buggers. It's not always to do with warming up, or over-stetching when playing. A lot of it has to do with posture, and how you sit, especially in your car.
I remember Fergie made Giggs sell his car(fancy thing, maybe a porsche), years ago, when he was at his peak, as he was putting too much strain when getting in and out of the car, therefore his hammies kept going. -
