If a manager isnt willing to stake their job on a player, what does that tell you?

It tells me that they currently arent good enough. Would you be willing to stake your job on Josh Thompson being the answer to Celtic's defensive problems?

I wouldn't stake my wages on either the Chuckle Brothers being the answer to Celtic's defensive frailities :56:

Take yesterday's debacle at Falkirk for instance

Whereas I think that the Heid was poor we need to look at where the lost goals came from. I was concerned prior to HT that Loovens might get sent off because of some of his tackling. HT comes, Loovens goes off due to a thigh strain. "Hoof" comes on in his place and we lost 3 goals. Not saying it's all his fault but the third goal was a recurring joke. Heid commits himself when there was no need. Hoof doesn't bother covering therefore when forward skins Heid he has a a free shot at goal. Ive seen a number of joke center halfs since the 70's (including Willie Garner) and he is the worst player to fill that position over a long period of time... and he's captain FFS. :icon_mrgreen:

Thomson can't be anymore of a risk than those two bellends.

The whole team against Falkirk was abysmal, I wouldnt single anyone out for criticism when every player was poor. McDonald was the only player that came out looking decent but he's had plenty of other * performances so I wouldnt singing his praises too highly.

Didnt say that Caldwell & McManus were the answer but they are better than Thompson. You'd be doing well if you could spell his name, then actually watch a match he's played in before talking like he's even a SPL level player. He was a backup in League 1, now he can hold his own for Celtic just because he's registered on our books. I dont buy that bullshit for a second. Your logic isnt sound.

Oh don't your worry Dempsey Bhoy I have seen him play in Ireland, and Thompson, sorry spelling wasn't my strongest suit at school :icon_mrgreen: showed enough there to suggest to me that he could play alongside Loovens if selected by Mowbray.

And by the way I don't use logic I depend on my ' gut feelings ' :87:

    Watch them over again.

Goal 1 - Hinkel is marking his man, the midfielder in possession is running towards Gary Caldwell, if Hinkel comes inside he then a) leaves the incoming midfielder an open invitation to pass to the wide man Hinkel is marking and thus a free cross, and as such b) leaves two Celtic defenders on one player and completely out of the game. This becomes moot when Caldwell makes a schoolboy tackle.

Goal 2 - Hinkel is moving up the pitch to provide an out ball from a break from the edge of our area. It is safe to do so as there are five players behind him. Samaras plays a hospital ball which takes a fortunate bounce to a Falkirk player (Moutinho), neither Robson or N'Guemo make a decision about who is to track him and he runs onto the cross unimpeded. Fox perhaps should have tucked in too. Guilty parties = Samaras, Robson & N'Guemo, and to a lesser extent, Fox.

Goal 3 - There are three falkirk players out on Hinkel's wing, all within a few metres of each other, McGeady dosen't react to the the threat and instead jogs infield away from the three players. N'Guemo should have provided quicker cover also. Caldwell has to come out to offer some sort of protection while McManus ball watches and leaves the goalscorer (the only Falkirk player in our box) in yards of space. Guilty parties = McGeady, McManus and to a lesser extent N'Guemo.

Both Falkirk goals were nicely executed with quality deliveries into the box, both were preventable, however I don't feel that Hinkel made bad decisions or was culpable in any of them.

Ireland eh? Hardly playing to a high level there, was he?

Arent you the person thats come up with other half baked ideas about who should play for Celtic? I suggest you go back to the drawing board because you are the only person that wants him near the first team. Or are you pining for an opportunity to tell everyone 'I told you so'?

The entire defensive system deployed by Mowbray need alot of work in training. Again I say that Mowbray trying things that he doesnt have the personnel for yet. He's not playing to the strengths of the squad at his disposal

We are pretty much stuck with the main 3 CH's just now but it will be interesting to see TM's view on O'Dea, come January.
If he doesn't bring him back, I think it's bye bye Darren.

Caldwell gave away the penalty for Falkirk's 1st goal and I think Caldwell was at fault for their third. He let the attacker run off him. Can't remember who was at fault for Moutinho's goal.
