Luca hasn’t got any of his long efforts anywhere near the jaws of the pocket in the last 4 or 5 frames.

 

Brecel is chucking this away, seems like Selby has finally broken him down. Can’t argue about how effective he is but * me it’s a chore to watch.

Hopefully Brecel can somehow dig deep here but Selby is big favourite from here I think.

How is it a chore to watch? Honestly don’t get all the hate towards Selby. He’s an excellent break builder and he’s not slow to take his shots. The only thing about him is he will never take a long pot on if the safety makes more sense. He’s an all time great of the game going for his 5th world title and it’s mesmerising to watch such classy snooker under the most intense pressure.

All about opinions though. I feel like there’s a bandwagon of hate towards Selby and half the people on it don’t even know why they hate him.

 

Selby isn’t for everyone but the guy is a phenomenal snooker player.

Right up there with Stephen Hendry as the best player under pressure of all time.

 

Didn’t say I hate him just don’t find his style very exciting to watch.

Admittedly I’m very much a causal fan so guys who tend to go for everything I’d far rather watch, than someone like Selby who will weld the cue ball to the bulk cushion all night long if he has to.

Also not disputing his standing in the game, I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up with more World Titles than Ronny tbh. It’s not even up for debate that he’ll end up in amongst the discussion for a potential goat. The long format just suits him to a tee, far more than any of the other players who seem to be coming through.

 

His average shot time is 26 seconds. 4 slower than brecel. Not that much granted but seems to overthink shots too often for my liking. The match v Allen and earlier sessions v brecel, * me, his average must have been much much higher to the point it was boring as * to watch. Not enjoyable one iota.

Brecel has been a breath of fresh air. And Si. Hopefully their style will continue to dominate as it’s what snooker has been needing imo. As much as I love Higgins, he isn’t too exciting, as are a few of the older guard still hanging around the top16. Usually very safe snooker, but effective. Si and Brecel have been awesome and I’d happily rewatch watch their match.

Fair play to him. Perfect position on every shot to win that frame pretty much

 

That was some bottle from Brecel there, helped massively by Selby missing an easy shot in the second last frame but the last one was sublime under that pressure. Especially considering he was put in a bit of a blender tonight.

Selby still has multiple world championships in him and he’s a good sport but I’m glad Brecel won there, guy has been brilliant all tournament.

 

Congratulations to Brecel. Deserved winner.

Selby a class act as well.
