That's another problem. If UEFA decide to reinstate Celtic, they must hope that Celtic accept to be in that group with Udinese, Atlético and Rennes. To be frank, this would be a joke as Celtic should have been in pot 2. Celtic could ask for a repetition of the draw then and things would get even more complicated for UEFA.

Let's just get this straight , there has to be a level playing field , sion seem to think they are immune to the rules as the reason they have this transfer embargo is because they broke these same rules last season, regardless of what anyone says, oh we don't deserve it, Celtic lost to a side which shouldn't have consisted of 6 players which played don't care what you say. So when the transfer window shuts and we come to play rangers would it make rangers * If we went and signed 6 players that enhanced us and beat them? No! It doesn't it just means you've gained an illegal advantage. Due to not being the players or fans fault I would gladly play the two legs again with the removal of those players , they will get sanctions but however just don't see uefa looking like mugs in this .sadly I think sion will go out, whether it be banned or a 3-0 win each leg for us .

A Swiss Civil Court or any Civil Court dont have any control over UEFA or FIFA.

FIFA, UEFA, the Swiss Supreme Court and the Court of Arbitration for Sport have all ruled in favour of the transfer ban and FC Sion have been appealing it for three 3 years and failed (hence why it only started in janurary).

    Here is whats happening:-

Sion had signed five players with the club still under a transfer ban imposed by FIFA after breaching rules over the signing of Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary three years ago.

Sion successfully argued in a Swiss civil court the embargo had ended, prompting the Swiss Football Association to allow them to field the players in their league.

But FIFA and UEFA insist they have broken the rules.
UEFA president Michel Platini said: "What is happening there is the rules have not been respected.
"FC Sion has not respected the rules of the transfer ban - they signed players and then played those players."

UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said Sion could be expelled by the organisation's control and disciplinary body, with a hearing expected on Tuesday.

Infantino told Press Association Sport: "The civil court ruling does not affect UEFA.

"We will look at our rules and the FIFA rules. There is a ruling by FIFA, CAS have ruled, it went to the Swiss supreme court and everything was confirmed but it has been challenged again.

"It is an interpretation question which is complicated - whether a two transfer-window ban means two transfer windows or parts of several transfer windows.

"The control and disciplinary body will make a decision certainly before the group stage starts."

Sion could then appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but they would rule before the group stages begin, allowing Celtic to compete if Sion lose.
CAS Secretary general Matthieu Reeb told Press Association Sport: "The first group stage tie is September 14 so if there are any appeals we can get it done before then."

The decision on Tuesday could also have a massive influence on who we sign before the 11pm deadline on Wednesday.

Personally I can't see platini and co backing down on this one would make them look even more corrupt lol, all fingers and toes crossed , there is mixed opinion on it but if we get back in the board might just might get finger out before Wednesday and it could have a bearing on us for the league

I would take their hand off to be reinstated tbh. Europe is where we should all want to play, * the spl its poor we need European football at Celtic park.

Sion deserve to be thrown out because they broke serious sanctions that had been imposed on them.

This rag will look for anything to put a damper on positive Celtic stories. He has not said who will replace Sion if not Celtic.

But Udinese, Atlético and Rennes will care. It is not fair that they suddenly have to play against a (supposedly:86:) stronger team with a high coefficient.

Of course civil court rulings affect UEFA. Who the heck do they think they are? Don't they remember Jean-Marc Bosman?

On the other hand, the verdict by the Swiss Civil Court is only provisional. So maybe the definite verdict will be in favour of UEFA and FIFA. We don't know yet. The court is said to decide next week.

Yeah we are poor but we won't get any better if we don't try and compete, some fans saying if uefa do reinstate us we should knock it back is crazy talk.

I enjoy the irony in the fact that, had maribor not already complained about rangers, we might have been caught out by that within 24 hours appeal thing.
At this stage I will take europe any way it comes, playing teams of the calibre of udinese and atletico would be tremendous

We might aswell not show up against St.Mirren on Sunday then, as they're a better side than St.Johnstone.

    That's not how football works.

Why don't we just pull out of europe altogether then, we'll never be able to compete with the big boys again so what's the point?
