one man's deeds shouldn't have a club expelled from football. that's insane. Not saying it is, but it comes across as sour grapes from us losing to them. they knew the rules and are being punished accordingly but I think any club owes it to their fans to appeal decisions like this.

if it was us being expelled from European competition (whatever the reason, although I'm certain this would never happen) I'd want my club to fight tooth and nail to get back in. Particularly after beating the other side in question over 180 minutes.

Just to pre-empt any backlash, I think Sion deserved to be put out after the blatant disregard of rules, I think trying to use courts that have no governance over Uefa to get back in is ridiculous and their chairman is clearly aff his nut.

What's sour grapes about wanting cheats out of football? Like I said, almost every other club in the world abide by FIFA's rules and regulations, when they don't they get punished and they either accept it or they appeal and then accept it and get on with playing football. It's not just once the club has broke the rules, it's several times, they're even doing it now by taking footballing matters to a civil court. If they want to remain a part of UEFA and FIFA they should abide by the rules like everyone else and to say it's just one guy is a bit inaccurate, I'm sure he has the backing of the club and their fans so they're all as guilt as he is if that's the case.

After days of no tickets being sold, Althletico Madrid have started selling tickets for their first home game.

    The tickets say:

    'Athletico Madrid Vs Celtic FC'

Hail Hail bhoys and ghirls, we're off tae Spain.

    Only found this.

    10.06.2009 - 07.07.2009 = 28 days
    10.06.2010 - 16.07.2010 = 35 days
entire transfer window in winter 2010/11 = 82 days
    10.06.2011 - 30.06.2011 = 21 days

These are dates when there was a transfer window running and Sion did not make any transfers. Now their claim is that the whole thing sums up to two transfer periods (2 x 82 days) and that the ban is actually served. They say that the duration aspect of the ban is formulated very vaguely by CAS and FIFA. The CAS should decide within the next weeks if the ban could be split up or not. UEFA and FIFA say that's not the case, but they already got overruled by the CAS in the "Philippe Mexes case" where Roma could split up their transfer ban.

As I've said before, Roma's ban was for 1 calendar year, that's why they could split their ban between transfer windows, they were given start/finish dates. Sion were banned for 2 full transfer windows which they did not serve.

The end for Sion's Europa League campaign 2011-2012? Almost. The Civil Court of La Côte (place where UEFA is based) will decide (today or tomorrow) on superprovisional measures too. There it was the club who went before court and not the players. So the matter is a bit different. But if there is a no there, then it's definitely over and clear (for Celtic at least).

Edit: I was not well informed. There is currently no appeal at the La Côte court. So basically... it's done.

Sion out, Celtic in... Cheats end off... ffs :bbpd::bbpd::bbpd:

Celtic and Sion are due to arrive at Madrid Airport at the same time next Wednesday, with both sides pressing ahead with their Europa League plans while Uefa listen to Sion's appeal against expulsion. (The Sun)

Bit of a body blow for Sion and for Christian personally from CelticNinja :icon_mrgreen:

Was it not their local court who gave them the lifeline in the firstplace? If that's the case then this is good - although it appears that their application needs to be heard at another court in another district, so this crazy * & his legal eagles will likely be jumping a train as we speak!

More drama than a soap opera!

Personally I'm going with; We're in Europe and you're no' :icon_mrgreen:
