uefa are a disgrace. celtic should never of played sion in the first place. the issue should have been resolved one way or another before any games were actually played. there should be a criteria/rules/regualtions set before the competition even starts- and if the clubs don't meet it, they shouldn't be allowed in. the fact that the first group game is a week away, and the club, players, and most importantly the fans are uncertain about whether or not it will even go ahead is shocking.

Aye, Ive heard that since as well, however, other sites are suggesting that Sion have NOT appealed.

The bottom line is, no one knows who Atletico are playing a week before the game is suppsed to take place.

A f***** farce. It will be nice to see the City of Madrid in any case but we're only going because of the Celts of course.:38:

The official website for the Europa League clearly shows the Celtic-Atletico fixture.

    http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/index.html

Not really fair to say that "no one knows who Atletico will be playing" Atletic needs to be preparing for Celtic and forget about Sion.

    * it. Nice place to go anyway. Your in a win win. You get a nice wee holiday anyway, with a good chance of seeing the Hoops there.

I think it's just * flappin their gums cause nobody at Uefa has said anything yet. No news is good news. The longer nothing happens, the less likely they are to change.

Sion probably know they aren't going to get back in, they just want a back hander from UEFA.

That's true but I wouldn't go in the current financial climate unless it was to see the Celts and it just won't be the same if we are not playing.

I'm getting nervous about this decision now:87:

The less we hear about it the better i think, if sion had a good chance with this case then sky sports, bbc etc... would be telling us that, but they don't as we don't think they have a strong case.

Unless something is said by the end of the week i can safely assume 99% that sion will not win the appeal.

I wish FIFA and UEFA would just revoke the cheats membership for constant rule breaking then let them go cry over that when they're playing in the Swiss * leagues. I'm sick to death of them and I don't care how nice their fans seem to be this club under this * moron Constantin have no place in football.

Sion definitely has a case. If Sion's appeal is successful superprovisional measures will be taken by the Swiss court(s). Same thing happened in the Swiss league in August. Sion was forbidden to field their new players and played with their "old" squad (3-4 or games), then the court in Martigny decided in Sion's favour. The Swiss Football Association, under strong pressure from FIFA (just like UEFA), was strongly against it. But the SFA had to obey the judge's decision and let them play. Let's see what happens when UEFA is in the same situation. Maybe they just think they're big enough to ignore civil law. Just like they did on friday. Then things get really interesting...

In my opinion, UEFA never should have intervened. They could have qualified Sion's players for EL 2011/12. If Sion loses its case in the end, they could still punish them, for example ban them for 3 years from all UEFA competitions. This would seriously hurt Sion (no real ambitions for the next years, many players would leave, money...) and leave the competition intact. UEFA cannot expel Sion from EL while the case is under investigation.

Sion have no case what so ever.

It doesn't matter if these ineligible should of been allowed to play, FIFA said they weren't and that's final.

Done, dusted and bring on Madrid!:ynwacelti

Not sure if this has been posted but Sion have no case whatsoever, the Europa league (UEFA) can make any rules it likes outwith a civil court or indeed a countries laws or regulations. UEFA competitions are not an entitlement of individual clubs, so basically the Swiss FA are invited to play in these competitions as long as there representatives adhere to UEFA rules and regs. Hence why Sion could still buy players and play them in their own Legue but not in Europe.

Because UEFA just ignores the verdict (i.e. they decided to ignore it after Sion beat Celtic, which leaves a bad taste...). The Swiss FA does not.

The Swiss courts should take their decision until friday. If they decide against Sion, everything should be fine for you. If they decide in Sions favour, UEFA is under pressure. Next week might get ugly...don't know how Celtic (or Atletico, Rennes and Udinese) will react, if Sion is reinstated. And I honestly can't see UEFA do this. Too embarrassing after what Platini said. Would make him look like a fool.

If they decide in Sion's favour it will make no difference at all, UEFA will ignore the verdict from a biased Swiss mickey mouse court and FIFA will hit them with further sanctions for once again breaking FIFA regulations about involving local courts, hopefully they'll just kick Sion out of football completely so we all can have peace.

bit harsh that bud. clubs get stuck with lunatic chairmen once in a while. He's clearly barking but that's not the fans fault or the players. To want them booted out of football is just madness.

It's very interesting to see the other point of view

We have to accept that Sion are making this stance because they, and the Swiss court [far from mickey mouse I would suggest] feel they can prove that they are in the right.
FIFA and UEFA however have clearly stated that Sion FC have broken the rules and they knew that they were doing this BEFORE the tie with Celtic.

What Sion are trying to do now though is ride roughshod over the governing bodies of the game. If they succeed it could be football armageddon!

I hope common sense prevails, I think it will. :50:

At the end of the day they're serial rule breakers and not only that they refuse to accept their punishment for being cheats, if they can't abide by the rules and regulations of the game like almost every other club in the world then they shouldn't be playing it, plain and simple. If it sounds harsh then too bad, they're constantly bringing the game into disrepute and should be dealt with accordingly.
